They have!?
They have spent close to £45m already though
That's a rather odd comparison though isn't it?

Just don't see how you can compare 3 season total vs one. I'm not saying it's not a valid statistic but it's just a rather odd one to use.
You could take the avg (although I really hate averages) of 3 to compare to current.
As you say sales have distorted it somewhat also increased PL TV revenue too. I still think imho that had those sales happened under Lambo he would not have gotten the backing that Sherwood has this year.
Other than that it's a waiting game to see what happens next summer
Sorry, I may be being dumb here but Sherwood's net spend this summer is around £5m isn't it? How is that an upward trajectory?
It certainly does tend to help a manager's spending power when they can offload one player for £30m+
I know what you're saying, because of the big sales this season, it takes their spending down. Which is true, But Lambert had to force out highest earners in his seasons anyway. As long as you included the sales in the 3 Lambert years, as well as this season. Then fair enough. I still don't think, with the wages these new players must be on, I don't think Lambert would have been backed for them, in my opinion.I didn't total the three seasons, I looked at each season individually - net spends of approx £24m, £16m and £9m as Rob says, each comfortably higher than this summer so far. The part in bold is merely conjecture, we'll never know the answer to that so it can't really used in an argument.
The old saying. "You need to spend money to make money". Last few seasons, Villa have looked such a depressing club. Not an attractive buy.Randy is realising that if Villa were to fall out of the Premier League it would cost him a fortune.
He is desperate to sell though.
Oic I thought you were comparing all 3 seasons to this season. What about sales under Lambo as well? Suppose biggest unanswerable question is who was on what wage then & now.I didn't total the three seasons, I looked at each season individually - net spends of approx £24m, £16m and £9m as Rob says, each comfortably higher than this summer so far. Pmsl the only way you could make Villa more attractive is to pick it up & move it far away from where it is, urgh, football matters aside lolThe old saying. "You need to spend money to make money". Last few seasons, Villa have looked such a depressing club. Not an attractive buy.
