Yep, it seems the bar has been raised stupidly high by the Raheem Sterling fiasco.

I never said, or even suggested that it was? I'd guess at £15m minimum - considerably more if it was Liverpoo sniffing around.

So why a free passage virtually into the quarter finals?
Burak Yilmaz is the classic example - on paper, an incredible signing. But it's actually high risk - his star is on the wane a bit, he's the wrong side of 30, never played outside Turkey, he might just be looking for a last (enormous) pay day. He could be brilliant for them, but equally this could be a monumental waste of money.
Destro won't happen but to be honest, I think £4.5m would have been too much for him. A loan would be a far more interesting approach but he's not a great player, he really isn't. Very surprised by the excitement surrounding him.
Sign of losing an argument throwing insults, sorry Rob. McNally is doing exactly the same as every other ceo in football attempting to leverage value from a deal. Hell we don't even know any if the figures involved, unless you believe the media (I rarely do) everyone has an agenda after all.

Joking aside, if (and a big if) he can sort out his attitude and fitness, there's no reason he can't fulfil his early promise, right? I don't believe he's had a major injury?
