What are peoples thoughts on Dieumerci Mbokani? Don't really know much about him apart from a couple of youtube videos. He looks a little like Adebayor use to play. Tall, strong, but can run at defenders. Looked up a Football Manager picture to see how he's rated, Looks alright. Is the general consensus excitement? relief?

Translation: "Dynamo Kiev just agreed to release Dieumerci Mbokani against my modest sum of 6 million euros. It will take the direction of Norwich City, promoted to the Premier League. They see in our Leopard striker they are looking for several weeks. The transfer will be formalized in a few hours or even days."

The leopard reference is to the nickname of the DR Congo national team: 'The Leopards', for whom Mbokani has 31 caps and 15 goals.

The fact that it was on twitter, via some Belgian journo's facebook account makes me a tad suspicious - especially as there's nothing on Newsnow to back it up?
I think it would be good for NCFC - but admit to not knowing a great deal about the player. He just looks more of a physical threat than RvW and Hooper, so with his seeming determination to play a single striker, would appear to suit Alex Neil's target striker profile. Great hair, too! He could blind opposing CBs with a swish of that mane <yikes>
Journo's F/B account - it seems 'Leopard leader foot' is a sports website, not a nickname for our new supposed 'beast'

Mbokani looks to be cheaper than Gayle, and as someone else has said earlier in the thread, physical strikers coming in from abroad have done quite well of late. If we save money signing a striker, with a couple of sales we might have the money left over to look to buy a defender too, something I doubt would be possible if we bought Gayle.

Destro = risky and would need to find a way to motivate him and get fit, but potentially high reward if he's successful

Mbokani = probably a safer bet, more like what I think we need, but unlikely to get any future sale

For the sake of this season and priority being staying up, on balance I'd say go for Mbokani if we can sort out the visa issue

Surely, there as to be some degree of gambling, teams have to be in the PL next season to reap the financial benefits for the next TV deal. Chances of becoming an established PL team will be reduce if not feeding with all the other glutinous teams next year.

Agreed. Solid defender. Could easily do a good job for us. He's been in the prem a long time. Definitely an upgrade on turner in my opinion.

He wouldn't be an exciting signing, but he would be solid and reliable. I don't think there are many better options out there for us. Only worry is that he is pretty slow. If you had him next to Ollson, and with Bassong at the back, it might be ok.
