Tomlin to Bournemouth. On one side, I didn't think we should go for him, even though he has a touch of class, we have players like that, who are fitter athletes. On the other hand, Watford and Bournemouth are going out there and bulking their sides. they finished above us, and we have done very little.
I'm not hugely bothered about Tomlin - perhaps slightly over-rated. He didn't do much in the play-off final, did he?

Good player Tomlin, saw him play for Posh a few times and he was a real fan favourite with them. Not sure he'd cut it the Prem though, from what I know of him he's an old school type of player and there are questions about his weight and also his attitude. Really not bothered if we sign him, don't think he would massively improve our squad and I'm equally not fussed if he goes to one of our rivals as, like Ware canary says, we certainly managed to keep him quiet at Wembley.

But as I've said before, I think Watford bought in too many new players which I think isn't such a good idea.

We want to keep the core of our team to keep the team spirit up and momentum, but slightly strengthen which we are doing. We just need a CB but I wouldn't be too disappointed if we start the season with what we got as I have confidence in the team and in AN.

Very much agree with this <ok>

Based on pre-season my suspicion is that Andreu will be gone - probably on loan to the Accies or elsewhere. RvW might go and I suppose Turner if we find a new CB.

I think Andreu has proven he's too good for the SPL, but is apparently not the right type of player for the championship. Perhaps a move to Ligue 1 and his native France?

I do agree with the numbers. But we do need to push the boat out like the rest. Not on numbers. Just 2 players, CB and Striker/Juan Quentero

I'm with the gamblers on Mbokani, he could be a beast in the Prem - if he were any younger he'd probably be getting offers from more established premier league teams. Can't say i'd have wanted to go anywhere near Ukraine this time last year, so i won't hold that against him.

If you think about it we must still have a good 15 million available.

Much as I would love Quintero, (it pains me to say it) the money needs to be spent elsewhere. We are so short of depth and genuine quality in central defence and we are taking big risks with not getting injuries in the centre. Imagine if Bassong and Martin get injured, it could send us down.

If Chievo are indeed the only other club after Quintero we will have substantially more financial clout than them.

Scrub all this rubbish, we should sign him

I think Quintero had received some interest from a Turkish club earlier this week too (may have been Besiktas; I'll try and find the article).

EDIT: nope, in fact it was a bunch of reports saying Bologna had had an offer accepted for him in mid-July. Clearly nothing came of it.

Don't know whether this has been mentioned, but is it possible Porto might be interested in a swap deal for RvW plus cash for Quintero?

I'm not sure their fans would be very happy about that.

And before you say it, no, they don't have the final say though.
