Could the Brady transfer finally be over?

Not sure about the £7 million price tag but would be glad to see the back of this transfer that seem to go on forever.

Edit. Maybe not.

Well that's movement from the supposed stalemate at least. Honestly thoroughly bored by this saga now, more interested in who we're looking to at CB and up front.

Deal confirmed at £7m, which is, I believe, exactly what I said would be final outcome before we got distracted with claims of wumming and nonsense about how players are valued.

He's a decent larker, but it's the right price and we've got a more than able replacement in Robertson(we've also immediately replaced Brady with Clucas from Chesterfield for £1m).

I suspect everyone's glad this one is finally sorted. <ok>

Would that make him our second most expensive signing ever then? It's more than we paid for Hooper.

I am slightly disappointed in this if true, I'm sure he is a decent player but 7 million is a bit much when Alonso who could do a similar job is a lot cheaper.

Wow so whilst that process was like pulling teeth, sounds like we might be just about there. I'll chuckle when the deal is done and NCFC report an "undisclosed fee".

Also just wanted to say thanks to @originallambrettaman and your pals. I found your input on this quite interesting and despite a few nudges we all managed to keep things friendly which is frankly very hard with some nutbags on other boards.

I never for one moment thought LambrettaMan was wumming. After all, he's a Mod, isn't he? :emoticon-0136-giggl

Edit: 'Mod'...get it?...

He quite clearly was never wumming, and the suggestion that he was had to make me chuckle.

Very happy if we've finally got this deal done, I always thought we'd get him for £6m, which I suspect we would had we offered that to start with, but perhaps we paid a premium for pissing about with pathetic bids to start with <ok>

Naturally we'll call it an undisclosed fee, in that case you'd imagine part of the contract is that Hull can't reveal it either?

I'm sure Bruce will try to make it clear that they stood their ground, etc though. Hope Hull get the money to reinvest in the squad.

Well, that was a bit of a saga wasn't it?! Pleased we look like we've finally secured our number 1 target. Not sure Brady is worth £7m - more like £5m - but we probably deserve to pay more for pissing Hull about with silly bids early in the process. Nothing wrong with going in low but I found our behaviour a tad distasteful throughout. Ok, Bruce is a bit of a doughnut (not just in terms of looks) for constantly going public - but that was because he knew the player wanted to go and he had no chance of keeping him. He knew he'd have to go public to try and drag more teams into the chase to boost the price.

The good thing is, the lad covers two positions, so had we signed Alonso and A N Other we'd have used two squad places and probably spent a similar amount. Also, I'm told the money that will effectively change hands (over time - you all know how these deals are structured!) will be nothing like £7m when you take into account the fact Hull still haven't finished paying for Snodgrass.

Anyway, I'm pleased the deal is nearly complete. A centre back and a centre forward and I feel we'll be done.

Welcome back supers - if that's true, I'm going to join in the pat-myself-on-the-back parade for it being "exactly what I said" all along, particularly about the unpaid part of the Snodgrass fee and how it impacts on the price.

I very much doubt these supposedly low bids had any impact on the final price. The fact is Hull weren't going to negotiate irrespective of where we started. They were obviously only interested in letting him go for silly money otherwise they felt he could do a job getting them promoted. Fine - just a question of whether we were prepared to meet their hard position.

Original Lambretta Man is still referring to "nonsense about how players are valued." So you might not class it as wumming, but given that after multiple explanations as to the fact that player valuations had only tenuous links to transfer fee and the fact he thinks bids are made by one manager texting another manager with a single number, it's a bit disappointing to see he's learnt nothing other than how to annoy people by pretending he was right all along.

It will be interesting to see what the ACTUAL final price is. People might be a little less pleased with themselves.

Anyway, it's great to know the saga is over and sounds like we've got a decent prospect. It's like buying a house - doesn't matter if you've overpaid if you end up using it for years and selling for plenty more....

I think you have to give Hull enormous credit. They obviously wanted to keep the lad but once they realised he wanted to leave (turned down a new deal I think?) they put a more realistic (but still expensive - why lose him for less?) price on his head and held out for it. I think we've over paid to a degree but he's only 23 and has big potential - that fee could easily double within twelve months - you know what the PL market prices are like! It's all relative and his value to us (in that he fills two roles) makes the deal seem realistic.

Ps. Not read the thread and have no intentions of shuffling my way through 85-odd pages(!) but have read the last two or three and can't see what the Hull fan is supposed to have done wrong. Looks like he's called it correctly.
