our 'itk' friend on twitter reckons Jon Walters and Sviatchenko are both coming in today, if he's actually right for once do we think that'll do us til Jan?

I guess it all hinges on what happens to Grab-headlines-for-all-the-wrong-reasons, Hooper and Lafferty.
Ex binner or nor, Walters would suit Alex's system better than Hoops, sadly.
And we clearly need to strengthen at the back, especially now Turner has gone.
But, back to your point, yes, that would do just fine - as long as there are no further departures (Bradders, E Bennett both linked with moves away)

It's going to be interesting to see how the Grabban saga is resolved. We'll need cover for Tettey, as he'll be suspended for 5 yellows before long. Both Bradders and Benno have a role to play in future.

That's similar to Balotelli and the training vest!

Jelavic to West Ham is a strange one. Interesting. I wasn't keen on him for us. Wonder if he'll crack them in.

Supposedly we've had a bid for Bournemouth defender Steve Cook rejected?

Oh really?! I really like him! Surely a pointless bid, or nonsense. I'm guessing fairly pointless even if we included Grabban. He's a solid leader for them, could be suicide to sell him to a rival.

A small point but an important one. Every time a player is mentioned as going people on here say ' don't sell him ' but at the same time we are all saying ' buy him, buy him buy him ' For every player we sign one has to leave - simples - and that might well include players who are personal favourites of ours and might not include Grabban who AN has clearly said will not be sold. I suspect a lot of business is bubbling along and, in my opinion, we need it just to have a chance of staying up in view of the squad strengthening going on elsewhere.

Why on earth would anyone want to get rid of last season's player of the year Johnson??????

Quite right 1950. We currently have a full 25 man squad plus Redmond, who still counts as under 21. Any player coming in means another going out, at least on loan. Mbokani simply replaces RvW. Who will leave if Walters and/or Sviatchenko come in?

He won't start for us under AN in the Prem, barring injuries.

We've got hundreds of other CMs, and if we brought in Naismith, we'd have a better player capable of playing on the left.

If Johnson leaves, who will play on the left if Brady is injured? Josh? Lafferty? Elliot Bennett and/or Tony Andreu going out on loan seem better bets than us selling BJ to Derby.
