That is not comparable with Djed Spence: they wanted him, he got injured, then he pissed off the coaches so they sent him back

Not sure why you mentioning Spence (or Ndombele earlier) is relevant to my point about Reguilon being mid.
Season long with a break clause in case Shaw came back. Which he did. Then Man Utd would have had three LBs in the squad
I said that Dortmund had interest, which they did, but Brentford's interest was more concrete
Pretty sure it's obvious why I'm citing an example of a player who is an example of somebody who Ange didn't want around due to his ****ty attitude, and the club who loaned him got sick of him within a month of him being available for selection
He was linked with Dortmund, but they signed Ian Maatsen on loan from Chelsea, instead.
They've got quite a lot of fullbacks, so it's something of a risky move.
Ryerson and Bensebaini have started at left-back for most of their games, but the latter's at AFCON.
We'll see if he gets his place back when he returns.

No idea how accurate this is, but this doesn't sound amazing to me.
Could be good for him to get game time. Not a great level, though.
Haven't seen them since the new manager took over, but I doubt his style is particularly Ange-like.
Odd one given Millwall's issue this season is the other end of the pitch, as in their 27 games they've scored 19 goals - and their defence doesn't look too bad, conceding 34 while plenty of teams in the top half of the table have conceded as many if not more (i.e. Ipswich 34, Watford 37, Hull 38, Middlesbrough 40, Norwich 43, Preston 44)
The obvious issue is that Tanganga should have managed 20+ games in at least one of the four seasons he's been in our first team but he hasn't, and as a result it's not surprising that clubs chasing promotion aren't willing to take a punt on him nor clubs with an eye on potentially making a late run into the playoffs, so as a result we're having to tout him around to clubs the next band down that are secure enough to take a punt as they aren't worried about the drop nor likely to need to get locked in for a playoff push
He’s got to be running out of time to secure a move of reasonable quality before his contract runs out. Injuries have ruined his progression for a while now. Hope he smashes it and we can get a move in the summer that works for everyone.
His loan to Augsburg being a work of surrealist comedy hasn't helped
First he got injured falling off his bike arriving at training, which was in the first week of his loan (though comedic timing is trying to convince me it was his first day of training)
Then when he finally heals up Augsburg switch from playing 3ATB to a back four, meaning he went from their second-choice RCB to their sixth-choice CB overnight
Add to that he made one matchday squad, albeit never getting off the bench, which pretty much guaranteed that Augsburg would be looking to send him back as his loan had an obligation to make his move permanent if they stay up this season, something which they appear likely to manage with Ermedin Demirovich doing a hard carry upfront scoring 8 and assisting a further 5 of their 24 league goals
On the subject of comedy, Paul O'Queef is trying to claim he got a scoop about Millwall loaning Tanganga - a mere hour and a half after that Richard Cawley tweet...

He’s not the only one who isn’t good enough who needs to be moved on permanently if it’s any consolation to you. Although I notice you rate Lo Celso

Sadly I don't think he has a future here.
It isn't at all clear to me where it went wrong tbh apart from the constant injuries that kept him out of action.
But there is also a lot to be said about the central and invaluable importance of inserting youngsters into a strong, upwardly heading team.
I feel this has been a malaise at the club for years now. Poch was equally guilty of it - waiting to integrate the likes of Foyth, KWP and later on Sessegnon into a team in rapid decline, and all three in areas that were at the highest level of crisis.
I feel the same about the likes of Riding and Tanganga. They needed to be integrated into a settled, consistent team in order to learn from more experienced team mates and develop at a normal pace instead of in a total panic.
I think we've seen it with Skipp too. I remember some of his and Japhet's earliest ever performances in 2019/20 were monstrously good. But the decay around them was accelerating and in subsequent seasons they were surrounded in all directions by complete ****e. Their growth was stunted as a result - Skipp hasn't developed one iota in 3 years which is shameful.

I have explained that it is less he isn't wanted by Ange and more than he is expendable, given he takes up an Overseas spot yet is in an area of the team where we are well-stocked, hence several posters on this board have stated they would rather keep Reggie and offload Sessegnon
That would be the same Lo Celso who, while also taking up an Overseas spot we may need to be freed up next summer, is not deemed expendable given he has a degree of end product when he has been available this season and does fit into the system - which is why we're reportedly listening to offers for Hojbjerg this month because, while his workrate and determination are admirable, he hasn't found a way to fit into Ange's system in the way that other potential midfield misfits like Lo Celso or Skipp have done...though given Hojbjerg's legs are clearly going, that is likely the main reason he has become expendable
So as things stand, the expendable Overseas players in our squad are Reguilon (due to us having four FBs), Perisic (mainly due to his massive wages), Hojbjerg (not progressive enough to be a DM in the system, not dynamic enough to be a CM in the system, and legs going reduce his effectiveness as a spoiler) and Gil (simply lacks the physical attributes to hack it in the Premier League) and of that list Gil is the only one it can be said is out-and-out ill-fitted for PL football given how easily he is bullied off he ball two years after we signed him and he lacks the pace/trickery/bloody-mindedness to work around that
After the nightmarish couple of years he’s had with injuries, being out of favour with Conte and then a disastrous half season loan that wasted 6 months of his season, I think just getting game time is the most important thing for him at this stage of his career. I don’t know Millwall’s side either but it’s hard to imagine him not being the best player at the club upon joining. So long as he stays injury free he should get a good 20+ or games there.
In Skipp's case a chunk of his dropoff can be put down to his pelvic surgery in early 2022, as he hasn't looked quite the same player since he returned - though some of the passes he was pulling off at Old Trafford the other day showed that player is still in there somewhere and can be tapped into if we get the coaching and the environment right, so isn't quite comparable with Harry Winks who lost his nerve after his second ankle surgery and recasting him as a DM meant he never recovered that initial spark
Tanganga on the other hand can blame injuries to a point, but ultimately the issue was that the ubermensch and Nuno were willing to give him opportunities - but Conte tore him down, so even if he wasn't injured his confidence was shattered
It does have to be said Millwall might be a smarter loan than it first appears, given their coach does have connections with the England youth setup and seems to be giving younger players a shot, while his predecessor Gary Rowett was always looking to bring in ageing players he worked with at Birmingham or Stoke
Dalot’s a right back so being picked over him is hardly impressive. Malacia and Shaw aren’t great left backs but still superior to Reguilon.
Reguilon wasn’t wanted by Ange, ETH or any top sides. He was wanted by Brentford though which is his level.
When Shaw and Malacia were out we did'nt need Reguilon because Dalot played the spot. Then Wan Bisakka got injured so Dalot was needed on the right and Reggie got some games.
He did ok going forward but is in no way a defender teams would choose to use.
I agree about Reggie but that's harsh on Shaw who is a very good left back, certainly the best England have available to them and probably in the top 5 in the league, though it should be added that top quality left backs are in short supply!
