I can’t say he’s been on my radar but very unusual for a key first team player like that to become available, we must’ve paid Accrington Stanley decent money to sign him. A good age. One of our key areas to strengthen. Ticks all the boxes. Welcome aboard.

Ben Morris is back from his injury. An enormous talent a couple of years ago. If his injury hasn’t crippled his form then he could be a huge player for us.

Town closing in on ex QPR midfielder Tom Carroll and it could be completed today. After refusing a new contract he is a free agent!

Certain people on here don't like the new regime from top to bottom....i think those people need to seriously look at themselves in the mirror! It appears we will do what it takes to get to the promised land, yes it may take a bit of time and there will be ups and down but **** me....this is soooo much more fun than the last ten years or so!!!

Who is that exactly? I don’t think there is anybody who doesn’t want the Americans involved and nobody in their right minds would be sad to see the back of Evans. If your idea of fun is losing every week though, it certainly ain’t mine.

That would fulfil two of the key players I said we still needed the other day, wouldn’t it?

I think owner-wise there is no better option.

PC may or may not get us out of this division but he’s certainly not going to end up with a statue or stand named after him.

Please, oh wise one, remind me how Bobby Robson started his Ipswich Town managerial career

Bobby’s start always gets trotted out to argue sticking with a failing manager. Marcus Evans rolled it out regularly.

There’s no comparison is there? Paul Cook certainly got nowhere near an international shirt and has already been managing for 15 years so you couldn’t say he’s a rookie learning the ropes. He was unlucky at Wigan but why has he never got a decent opportunity or made an impression on the top two divisions?

On the other hand, there are some traits I admire. His honesty and his obvious integrity compared to Paul Lambert’s delusion is refreshing. I like his ideal, how he wants us to play and I like a lot of his signings. But I don’t like how he has made players disposable and I don’t like the results or how we actually play in reality, so far.

Fair enough and i agree with most of that, although I do think he took the necessary action with the whole, underachieving squad. Nobody can like the results so far but it's two games in and the squad isn't even completed yet, we are still signing players. Let's wait until at least Xmas before losing our ****, even then i don't expect to be top 3 but I do expect top ten!

Carroll to me seems a very Marcus Evans era signing a player who never quite lived up to potential and injury prone fortunately we haven't got the rest of the squad made up of players like this so probably worth the risk with his pedigree.

I'd say the squad seems pretty much there almost now, unless Cook wants to ship a couple more out to make space for more of his own signings. Perhaps we are missing a proper defensive midfielder, I've never been a huge fan of having specialist defensive midfielders (perhaps I've been put off playing the sweeper Skuse there for so long) as I think you need players on CM who can do more than sit however given the amount of attacking talent and expectation of our full backs to bomb forwards it might be an option particularly looking at the goals we conceded at the weekend.

My gut feeling without knowing the players (only reading about them) is that we have had an outstanding transfer window but we maybe still lack a few leaders in the team (and including the coaching staff) now its just time to see if the team can gel and whether Cook can keep in particular all these attacking players happy and find a consistent team. Plus hope that the players haven't had such an inconsistent preseason that they are playing catch up or suffer injuries
