Manchester United are determined to recruit a target man this summer and CaughtOffside has learned that the club’s current shortlist includes Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Liverpool outcast Christian Benteke.

Benteke is not cheap either – he currently earns £140,000 a week at Liverpool – and, while he too has many teams interested in him, United are one of the few possible suitors who are willing to match his pay. In fact, Red Devils chiefs would be willing to boost him up to around £150,000 if, as expected, they are able to agree a transfer fee of under £25m.

So... would you sell to United for £25m?
In a heartbeat.

But every eord uttered since Rogers was dispatched was crappy from him. He's mouthed off about going so chuff off to obscurity. Attitude stunk imo.

"I had no problem with Brendan Rodgers and we had a bond until, for some reason that remains a mystery to me, he changed,"

"He stopped playing me and then at the start of the season he didn't even include me in the squad, and nobody explained to me what was going on or what his plans were, so I decided to leave."

To me this is very understandable from a 20 year old who arrived as one of the best talents in Europe, was played as a wing back for a month then dropped...

He's impressed at Fenerbahce and I doubt their fans suffer many frauds.

End of the day he has the talent to be given a chance. If he develops he will be a very good player. Not sure he will but I don't think we can write him off as a person when we don't know any actual facts.

And when rodgers left.... hopes to join Fenerbahce etc etc etc.
The fact is he could have spoke well about his contractual employer or just kept his mouth shut but he went further.

On some of the German rumours:

- Hector: I'm not a huge fan. Seems pretty average tbh, but would be less prone to mistakes than Moreno.
- Mustafi: Haven't seen him since the world cup but he was poor there. Don't know if he's improved since but hasn't been first choice for the national team.
- Schurrle: Maybe for the right price, but seems like the sort of player we've bought too many of over the last few years. Only really amanged to breakthrough at Wolfsburg in the last few weeks,

My nan is less prone to mistakes than Moreno though to be fair

Matip will be 1st choice i think, klopp speaks quite highly of him here

Matip has been in the second half of this season. He is error prone.

I hope he's not a starter for us, but he is a good squad option.

You want Lovern and Skrtel sold plus Sakho is going to be banned. Who the **** are are CBs going to be? LOL

Matip is massive.

If the guy can clear a ball consistently unlike our lot then for me he's better than what we have.

As if today we rarely clearly it competently. I see amazing amount of second and third chances coughed up by our team.

The basics are get you back into the header, get it high get it wide and get it long. Sahko and toure are hilariouslying poor at this. I regularly see them let balls bounce, fail to get header out of pen area or theyou in effect knock it down better than a target man for attackers to shoot.

And that's our decent cbs!!! Skertl is worse.

If matip can do the basics and hold a good line with his partner then he's far better than our lot.

Andre Ayew offered to play for Liverpool for free prior to his move to Swansea City.

The 26-year-old scored twice on Sunday to help Swansea beat Liverpool 3-1 yet the story could have been very different if Liverpool had been willing to take a chance on him last summer.

Ayew was a free agent after his contract ran down at Marseille and the boyhood Liverpool fan was so keen to play for the Anfield club he offered to play without wages until January to prove himself in a bid to convince them to sign him.

The Ghana ace scored twice for Swansea against Liverpool to help the Welsh side to a 3-1 win on Sunday

But the Reds opted to pursue other players, with Danny Ings and Divock Origi already signed and Christian Benteke joining for £32.5m.

Borussia Dortmund, then under Jurgen Klopp's management, offered £7million for Ayew the season before his contract ran down at Marseille but he wanted to play in the Premier League.

The Ghana international has impressed at Swansea this season and was the subject of interest from Sunderland in January.

Ayew's future with Swansea remains up in the air with the club looking to appoint Brendan Rodgers as boss

He intends to weigh up his options this summer as Swansea look to appoint former Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers to succeed Francesco Guidolin.

Mark McKay of ExcelFoot, who negotiated Ayew's move to Swansea, said: 'It has always been Andre's dream to play for Liverpool but unfortunately they opted to pursue other targets at the time.'

Play for free? get him signed ffs <laugh>
