I don't know who was committee and who was Rodgers. I do know certain players have not yet lived up to expectations.
That's not to say they won't. They just haven't yet.
Benteke: he does score goals. If he happens to be in the right spot at the right time and is provided he will score.
He doesn't create. He doesn't retrieve. However, if you tee him up he is fairly reliable.
To get any use out of him you need the right players along side him. He's a bit of a "luxury player" and requires everyone else work harder to accomidate him but is forgiven mostly because he does score.
Firm: he's shown a few glimpses of brilliance but I think he is a player like Benteke who needs the right players alongside him. He does fantastic in space but doesn't handle pace or being pressed. I'd class him as a luxury player too in that, he can be a real asset but at the expense of the rest of the team being adapted to him.
Firm and Ben can both do well in the correct circumstances. I don't think we should ever play both though. It should be one of the other because they don't compliment each other. They both require teammates who will create space and opportunities.
Origi. One great game. Several that would make Voronin face palm. Juries still out. Maybe he'll improve and maybe he won't. I'm leaning towards the latter but Soton introduced doubt. I think he may have more creativity to him than Benteke so in a tight defence could be more useful. Elsewise Ben is better.
I have it on good authority that Klopp was lined up long before he was hired. I think the transfer committee which ayre says doesn't exist btw (we dreamed it up) were signing with him in mind.
I think firmino is a more..... advanced style player than we'd like. I think he'd work with benteke in a pair but he's been stuck behind him so far. I think he needs a bit more time to get to the game he's got to play over here.
I also think milk what you said about benteke could be labelled at many players. does lewandowksi (mentioned somewhere earlier) create from thin air? Has sturrdige scored off his own tricks or off through balls played by others. Benteke needs to do more when we lose it and run in behind but he's played best with coutinho this year. I think so has firmino as the false 9 role... we need more passing though and more runs behind plus higher press driven by midfield running (and lead by benteke closing allowing the rest to go.

Sturridge frequently creates his own chances. I'm not saying others arnt involved but he creates his own opportunities... It's one of the things I like about him.
i reckon frequently might be a bit strong. he's got a few that way yes but he's a no 9 who runs onto things. for me coutinho makes most of his own goals and doesn't get too many like he got v city.

If you asked me Sturridges strengths I would say:
Pace, creativity, dribbling, goalscoring. Positioning, assisting.
Weaknesses: injury prone
If you asked me Bentekes I would say:
Goalscoring.
Weaknesses: everything else

Benteke is incredibly strong. His biggest difference to Sturridge is mobility.
Bit harsh that.
Sturridge is fast and he can hold it up and bring others in very well. He's got the right idea on the areas to get into to score. then he's also got the calmness and the finish. AND the confidence to pick up day 1. one the other hand he is injury prone and he is fragile in his mind by the look of it. He's also not all that on the pressing side and certainly much stronger on his left side.
Benteke is reasonably quick or in other words quick enough. he is tall, powerful, strong and can bully a CB. he's very strong in the air and has a good touch too. He is a fantastic striker of the ball and has proven so already for us. He is also a good finisher which means the composure. finally he's great to have i nthe team to defend at set piece too.
For me he is also a bit injury prone and i expressed this in the summer as the only doubt to me on his signing. He takes a bit of time to get back up to speed for me and I think he is a confidence player. Whereas sturridge believes he's a worldie benteke needs a start to get going.
They are simply different but benteke is a really good player we are lucky to have and for me this "style" stuff is irrelevant. If benteke does what klopp asks him to do he will play. If he does not he won't. I think he can get with the program and do whats asked just like others (example of lallana with klopp saying he can do 30% more right off the bat, or lucas who looks like he's been set free at times under klopp)
I would have to ask if his touch, work rate, heading, defensive posture, run are all a weakness... seriously.... he's be playing league 2.

though..... if one can run and the other is on crutches is going to be moot it seems.
theres a big risk of him burning to death if he was. trust him to go up in flames like the cheap knock offs i'm hearing about. he needs to decide if its pain or real pain. it is ok to be a cripple at 35 you know... most top pros have to accept this.
do we think ronaldo will be really in a good place in 2/3 years? that lads knees must hurt like hell all the time but he's out there.
Yeah. There is a big difference between Sturridge and Kuyt for example. Kuyt ran like crazy and worked hard.
Sturridge works hard too but there is an intelligence to him and he creates space and opportunity.
I don't think He's that good at finishing. He's decent and he scores worldies which gives the impression that he's good. But he's missed a lot of easy chances including headers in my opinion. He was put clean through against City but completely fluffed it and that's telling because not only did he mess up trying to run with the ball, he eventually beat his man but then slowed down. Then he beats him and messes the finish.
I suppose if you give him time and space, he will leather it. Problem is, this is the PL and doesn't get that time and space. It's why he ends up having to rely on crosses as his main source of goals.
And he doesn't press, doesn't move, doesn't work the channels and he didn't even use his physicality on Sunday. He was bullied.
Anyways enough of Benteke. Time to look at quality strikers we should be signing to replace him.
Agreed. The space he creates by dragging defenders out wide. Origi did that against Soton as well.
It's why we're struggling to break teams down because we can't create space.
