Harsh on Moreno - hard to judge defenders in our current set up because Rodgers is clueless in that respect.

He was poor and should be doing better but he was asked to do a lot by Rodgers and his starting position was a lot higher than what he's normally used to, therefore had more ground to cover.

Was far better under Emery which gives me hope that he is a capable of better. Still young and raw tbf. <ok>

Him and Digne would provide great competition for one another.

Volland and Pedro are both capable of playing that role though - but more importantly, both players are very good. Regardless of their position.

You can never have enough quality players...

they guy is a ball watcher, in general play he is "ok" but positionally weak unlike others who waltz in and know the score. at set piece he lets guy go, he's weak under crosses to his post and he plays guys on side...

sorry but thats not all rodgers.

Rodgers has dropped him and played 343 as he was so bad. he only came back in when markovic had to move to RWB.

in a back 4 he was so bad he was taken out as part of our "crisis"

Maybe a better manager coudl get him up to speed but its like this moreno would not even look twice at him and would shift him for anyone.

I don't think we've got 100 (active) posters on here so your percentage may be a little high. ;)

I agree that the price is steep if it comes to the full 29 million. Time will tell if he's worth it (which he hopefully will have been if the add-ons come into play).

pedro is not a no 9, never played no 9 and is not capable of it any more than rah££m is.

thats a Spanish falicy. that's like fabregas playing up front for spain in 2012. win 1-0 sure but...... barca played him right side and villa left side of messi.

volland and frimino can play up top but are more about playing no 10 roles. are either thierry henry?

Utd have rooney, utd have depay, utd have mata... they need a focal point. pedro and valland? focal points?

Skrtel is poor in most systems and he makes basic defensive errors in most matches - this is a man who is 30.

Lovren again has been poor throughout his entire career bar 6 months at soton where was protected by two of the best CM's in the league.

Johnson is just sh*t.

Moreno is raw, 21 years old, new country etc etc. Happily give him more time to develop.

But whilst I do criticise the defence, I've also criticised the central midfield and lack of protection it provides. the whole defensive structure is a mess.

29 million frankly is nothing these days.

the going rate has gone up from 10mil 5 years ago to 20mil now... perhaps 25 given how much rah££m went for. I'm not even bothered by his fee.

the german press have flapped about it as its massive when exchange ate is applied and its made euros. for us its just throw and othe ron the pile alongside lallana... <laugh>

Nope - Pedro is a natural forward. It was his position growing up - he was forced out wide due to better players taking the central position.

But he makes intelligent runs. excellent finisher and has a good goal record for someone out on the wing.

Volland plays along the line - very versatile but again, he's a natural forward. His finishing is excellent.

Would love both at Liverpool. <ok>
 
Liverpool are tracking Lucas Digne, the Paris St Germain left-back, as they look to apply the finishing touches to their summer business.
With Liverpool expected to announce the £32.5million signing of Christian Benteke on Wednesday, Brendan Rodgers squad looks well balanced ahead of the new season but there is one area that he may yet look to bolster.
It is unclear whether Liverpool would look to pursue a loan or permanent deal for Digne, who has been linked with Atletico Madrid and Roma, but the France international has been discussed as an option.
Though Joe Gomez, the £3.5m acquisition form Charlton, has impressed as a left-back on Liverpool's tour of South East Asia and Australia, it remains to be seen whether he would be ready for a full campaign in the Barclays Premier League in that position.

In the two seasons Rooney has played as an out and out striker he's scored a shed load of goals.

I agree that you can also look at players before they played under Rodgers, but what about e.g. Flanagan, who has (basically) only played under Rodgers?

As for the last sentence, I think you've criticised just about everything. ;)

in a team at the top...... where was he for poor old moysey.....

how amny chances was he given that year when ronaldo left. yeah he got 30 goals but his career is littered with seaosn where he under performed.

the reality of rooney is he blows hot and cold and any talk of him eing this or that ignores this.

When he is up for it irrespective of position he gets goals. He can come into the team and score 7 goals in 7 games and then just stop.... does he get bored.. does he really love the game i don't know.. but it seems to me when hes out for an injury etc he comes back itching to play and gets a shedload then drops off after a while.

Every time i've seen him out of utd's side i get ready to put him in ff team. then when he drops off he is straight out.

you'd swear from his guff he was played RB or something. 90% of the time he's no 10 and can get in box if he chooses. its only a few times he gets put CM as utd have been ****.

Utd NEED more than him as they've CL to play too. its just that simple. Utd will play best with him at no 10 and a no 9 for him to complete with/play off. Utd are a top side. they need more options.

my tracking change thread has the dignes rumour on it since may. Digne is running down his contract so is interesting all the bargain hunters.

I am only going by sky sources saying no more players.... if somethings changed at psg maybe we will revisit but the order of selling sterling and buying benteke would suggest LFC would at the very least need to shift enrique and perhaps one of the deadwood strikers to afford this.

He was playing behind RVP for poor old Moyesy.

He has spent most of his United career playing in positions that don't suit him to accommodate other players ie the second striker, on the left of a three, in midfield etc when he is and always has been an out and out striker. The two seasons when he played up top he didn't score in bursts (which I agree he has been prone to in other seasons), he just scored.

Mourinho spent an entire transfer window trying to sign him to be his main striker.
