Borini scored 1 in 4.
Ings scores 1 in 3 games but has played Championship football for most of his career. Is there any difference between the two?

But I agree with you - he's simply not good enough. Point I'm making is that Rodgers did not do enough to get most out of his resources.

Personally I think Ings is a much better bet, and I'd have good money on him doing better than 3 goals in 38 appearances at Anfield.

Rodgers main failing was signing the wrong players imo. However, having signed them he then exacerbated the problem by not having some continuity in personel and style up top. Lambert didn't get enough of a chance as a starter and he stuck with a woefully out of form Balotelli for far too long.

Borini being the main man at Sunderland was able to score a few goals, just as Ings is doing at Burnley. Personally, I think if borini was leading the line at Burnley, would he have done any worse than Ings?

But again, I agree with you - we signed the wrong players which don't fit our system. The worrying thing is that this summer looks no different - especially as Rodgers is hell bent on bringing in a physical lone striker.

I think Rodgers wanted Lambert as a plan B but got Lambert because he was cheaper than the similar options. But I doubt he would want a big money target man as his main striker. Especially after its failed so miserably this season. Pace and movement has always been Rdgers key to success.

Borini had 2 very serious injuries for us in his first season. Had they not happened his career for us could have been very different.

I also think Borini is best out wide on left cutting inside, not asva central striker. This was proven at Roma and Sunderland.

Well if Rodgers wants them they they aren't the wrong type. Rodgers obviously has a way of playing in mind using a big strong cf if that's what he wants.

But thats the thing. I thnk the transfer committee are betraying Rodgers by targeting these players. Going behind his back. I dont think Rodgers does have a way in mind.

He openly said he did not want Balotelli but gave in because we'd be stuffed if Sturridge got injured. He then did not know how to use Balotelli, or Lambert.

Our system worked better when Sterling played up front because he offered pace and movement. Sterling did not excel himself but the rest of the team were a lot more comfortable playing off him. Coutinho excelled, Lallana improved and things clicked much better.

When Lambert moved back into the team that was all lost again.

If the committee sign a target man, and Rodgers again struggles to use a target man, the committtee must all be sacked, because Rodgers has shown that with the right style of players he can bring success, but that the playing style cannot be messed with.

Agree with a lot of this, I would have had a lot of respect for Rodgers if he had his end of season meeting & demanded full control of transfers because of the shower we keep getting and then walked if the answer was no.
 
Hang on you lot you've forgotten one thing.

Think back to signing of sturridge. What did rodgers say about him? Bif powerful fast.

What did rodgers ascribe as borini main talent. Power <laugh>

Rodgers is on the committee

As if a group of club officials would buy a player in a multi £m deal, that the manager, who sat on said committee, vehemently didn't want.

It's nonsense to suggest that Rodgers had players foisted on him last summer. Maybe he didn't get all of his first choices most managers seldom do, but to say that they've deliberatedly gone behind his back to sign players he didn't want is ridiculous.
 
Rodgers preferred striker is a false 9 type. A Suarez. Failing that he likes a pacey, skillful and versatile runner. A Sturridge. He had the most success when he had both and the least success when he had neither. The transfer committee should notice this and take note.

Not being able to work with a certain type of striker does not make him a bad player. Wenger has struggled with out the right striker. Fergie struggled with out the right CM. But whe they got the right style of player back in the success began to return.

False 9's are hard to come by, but another Sturidge is much more common. In the current market possibilities include Aubemeyang, Lacazette, Immobile and Lawandowski.

False 9 options include Lavezzi and Jovetic.

But it happens all the time. Look at AVB and Spurs. They were signing players that did not suit his ideas.

Spurs structure was different, as they employed a DoF who was openly responsible for recruitment.

AVB moaning about players he supposedly didnt want only came out after he got binned btw

Liverpool have a committee of which Rodgers is part and from a football perspective undoubtedly the most influential

Lambert was a good signing for what he was signed to be. A low cost plan B. I will never criticize this signing.

Rodgers did not want Balotelli was panic bought him for squad depth. Rodgers tried to change Balotelli. He tried to get him into running and pressing. He tried to coach him into his ideal striker. He made an effort but some times these things dont work.

My only other transfer complaint with Rodgers is Lovren. But all managers make bad calls like that.
