I would imagine City see him as a decent HG squad player, if Pool play silly they will just move on to another HG player. The big money will be spent on players to improve the team and push for titles.

One of the best young players in Europe so we keep being told.. worth £170k a week so we are told... transfer fee should match in that case <ok>

City are under pressure to rebuild with young exciting players so we'll see.

If we wasted £25m on Lallana, I really hope we hold out for double.
His value is realistically £35m ish, so bump up the Man city charge, easily £50m from them.

Sterling worth 35 million ? We signed sanchez for 35 million.Chelsea signed fabregas for 25 million who is classed as home grown why would sterling be worth 35 million

I can see sterling moving on deadline day or close to it no one is going to spend above 25 mill on sterling your owners will drive a hard bargain till the final day and then realise it's not gonna happen and sell him for a reasonable price

Ah, but our owners don't want the prick to leave, so if your correct and they don't accept a bid of 25m(or obviously lower)he's stuck on 35k a week and will have to either bite the bullet and stay with a newly signed and improved contract or stay on his current wages until he leaves when his present deal runs out.

I suspect most managers go off what they see rather than what someone tells them

They are under pressure to rebuild a team that can challenge on many fronts, as such I expect them to go for a mixture of youth and experience with the top money being spent on the proven players.

Of course they do, they just need to give that impression to try and keep the price up

Young, British, selling to a rival and just been voted Europes best/most promising youngster...

Personally, I think he's worth around £15m-£20m but we won't sell him for that, certainly not to a rival

And Barca wanted to sell both of them to fund Suarez. Both Arse and Chavs got a bargain cause Barca wanted rid

In cases where there is still a contract in place you go with what the selling club is willing to accept. If this disscusion is taking place next summer then the prices quoted maybe closer to the mark, but there is still 2yrs left on the contract, so for now the price remains £40-50m.

Raheem Sterling: Liverpool reject £25m Manchester City bid
By Simon Stone BBC Sport
Liverpool have turned down a bid of £25m plus add-ons from Manchester City for midfielder Raheem Sterling.
The Reds value the England international, who has also been linked with Arsenal and Real Madrid, at £50m.
The 20-year-old joined Liverpool from QPR in 2010 and is under contract until 2017, but has rejected the offer of a new £100,000-a-week deal.
Boss Brendan Rodgers said last month he expected Sterling to stay at Anfield for the remainder of his current deal.
The bid comes a day after City chairman Khaldoon Al Mubarak pledged to invest in players this summer.
"You will see us in the market bringing in high-quality individuals that fit within what we are aspiring to," he said. .

"We want a squad which is able and has the capability and quality to win the Premier League, to compete and win the Champions League and be able to go all the way in two cup competitions in England."
Meanwhile, City and England goalkeeper Joe Hart believes his club are planning to buy British this summer to avoid breaking Uefa competition
rules which require a quota of home-grown players in each squad.
Hart is the only Englishman left in the City first-team squad following the departures of Frank Lampard and James Milner.
"I am not in the discussions of transfers, but after losing Frank and James, I imagine with home-grown rules, it will be top of their list to bring in English players or to promote some of the young lads," he said.
Sterling was an influential figure as Liverpool came close to winning the Premier League in 2013-14, eventually finishing two points behind champions City.
But the Merseysiders appeared unsettled last season, finishing sixth in the table.
Former Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard said Sterling had the chance to become the club's "number one player" by committing his future to the Reds.
Sterling was booed by sections of the crowd at last weekend's international in Dublin as England drew with Republic of Ireland.
Aside from the links with City, new Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez admitted he "admires" Sterling at the news conference to confirm his appointment.
Earlier this week former Reds striker John Aldridge was critical of Sterling's agent Aidy Ward, who reportedly said last month that his player would not sign a new deal at Anfield even it was worth "£900,000 a week".
He told BBC Radio 5 live: 'The way he has gone about handling the situation with Raheem is pathetic."
Liverpool are expected to complete the signing of Bolton goalkeeper Adam Bogdan, 27, in the coming days. (Liverpool Echo)
Liverpool are attempting to hijack Chelsea’s move for United flop Radamel Falcao.
Starsport understand that Falcao might prefer to join the Reds instead of Chelsea, despite the fact they are in the Europa League next season.
Kop boss Brendan Rodgers is desperate to add some new firepower to his misfiring squad this summer and is keen on luring the Colombian flop to Anfield.
But he will have to go head-to-head with former mentor Jose Mourinho for the Monaco hitman
Manchester United? NEVER! Martin Skrtel rules out Old Trafford as defender says he could leave Liverpool

I agree with Skrtel. He could never sign for Manchester United.

United apparently had £13m for Firminho accepted according to talk sport... Hope that's not true as would love us to go for him! And at that price could be a bargain

that is a total bargain no question. even if they just shovel him out on loans they'll make that back and then sell him on.

that really is a no lose proposition.

:laugh:Sterling is a British player and Liverpool do not intend to sell. This is a "seller's
market". Sterling also younger than Fabregas.

fabregas got a sweet heart deal to leave barca.... thats the real story there. they want shut and wanted the cash to balance books.

Sterling is a little **** who we will shft. there is the citeh araba money factor at play too. if city are only bidder it will be tough and could rumble on but put it this way city pad 26 mil for lescott and 23 mil for miner a lng time back... they can stump up and they look desperate to prove they are big spenders.

I agree with flappy. bogdan is really something mingolet will be sighing in relief at and putting his feet up cos his no 1 status is assured.

the accountants will also be happy at 3 frees and resigning toure wh is ineffect another cheap option.

Bogdan, milner, ings (with tribunal)

possible arbeloa to come

add origi will be called like a new signing

yup any accountant will be happy at that.

We've really got this transfer **** locked down. "Spend as little money as possible".... I'm sure there is another part to that philosophy <confused>

Wait I just remembered.... "Provided you buy quality". OH **** :emoticon-0119-puke:

Adam Bogdan. 2nd choice at Bolton is good enough for Liverpool.

I thought this was the summer where everything had to be perfect - this is embarrassing. Normally I would blame Rodgers but the owners seemed to have deviated from what was a good plan. There is no strategy now, no plan.

Adam f*cking Bogdan.

We actually are a laughing stock.
