Very effective player. You'd be delighted with him for the first couple of months and then infuriated with him when he's fallen out with the manager because it rains too much in the North West.

We shouldn't be signing Ings (unless we're going to loan him out and look to make a profit on it but I'd still say that is a luxury we can't afford atm), we should be signing players to improve the first team, to improve on a fit Studge. Tevez is unlikely to join us from a potential treble winning Juve team that can offer CL again next year but its worth a shot.

Regardless of the above, I'd us to go for Pierre Aubameyang too.

He would be good. I don't think he's the most efficient of strikers, but he's still a regular goalscorer. That said, he was Dortmund's only consistent striker this season so they'll be loathe to sell him; I don't think he would come cheap.

There's nothing wrong with value signings so long as they aren't the only signings

A young homegrown international for a nominal fee and low wages is an easy decision

More league goals in fewer appearances than Lukaku and about £25m cheaper
