Just because Ings is cheap, homegrown and better than Lambert doesn't mean we should be signing him. I understand the logic of buying players who are an improvement on existing players. Ings is an improvement on Lambert but that doesn't instantly mean he's good enough for the club. We're bringing in Origi who is already better than Lambert. Ings is on par with Borini and I suppose we could make a profit by replacing him. That leave Sturridge and a top class striker (assuming Mario is sold). Going by Rodgers's intentions, he'll play with a lone striker which means we only need 3 strikers. Sturridge, 1 quality striker (aubamayang) and Origi. We simply don't need Ings. Rodgers seems hell bent on bringing in English crap for the fun of it. Which bring me on to another point. It's like he wants to sign a bunch of yes man at all levels. Colin Pascoe is a nobody and we need a better number 2. The way he treated and lied to such players like Reina and Agger is further evidence - both players are leaders and big characters. His alienation of Sakho and Mario as well. Rodgers wants a bunch of choirboys who worship him and daren't question him.
Don't think many would. I always thought the point of transfers was to replace your first team, ie you buy better than the players who are regulars and sell those who are bench warmers. Therefore improving the 1st XI and in turn the squad. Surely this would mean finding a striker better than Sturridge (as he is our best striker). We seem to be going arse about tit on transfers. We've gone for a lets buy aload of squad players to make up the numbers, pad and fill. I always thought that was what the u21s were for.
I also totally agree up to a point the point of transfers is to improve. that means improve now or improve in two years. The ideal transfer model should cover both. the long term has to be taken into account and buying a young player for 5 mil instead of a older player for 20 mil in the long term can be best BUT If you have the money and have a need now you must address that need now. ergo if you have a total bunch of misfits upfront plus a crock you have to make a few moves no? Therefore LFC replacing lambert, apsas, borini and balotelli (Bournemouth, sevilla, lazio, sampdoria) needs more than one big buy. I totally agree get a 1st 11 striker right now. but if the chance is there to pick up ings for have nothing and even sell him in 12 months for 10mil surely it makes PERFECT sense. We are in europa. we can play him there along with widsom, ibe and others thus increasing thier value with exposure. Think about it lads.. "we don't need..." well sturridge is made of glass and the other 4 mentioned above should all be gone.. therefore if we bought a expensive player and have sturrdige and origi (young then surely having ings in there makes sense... even to sell on in a years time! lets look at the case of milner... i am sure someone somewhere in brummie hand said we don't need milner we have downing and young and young lads. they bought him for 12 mil and sold on for 26 mil to city... thats just on example. the fact LFC get done time after time by over paying should nto cloud your eyes on a 4-6mil fee in an era where 10 goals+ in prem will mean a midtable side will shell out 10-15mil no question next year. I'd bet you anything if we said sorry danny you are **** sunderland or stoke or villa will step in and say hey lad come on we'll have you. just decent business thats all.. pity his name is not inginho to sate the appetites round here. and no i couldn't care less if we do get him or not... as long as my man Bren stays
http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/sport/liverpool-fcs-raheem-sterling-real-9383089 Wouldn't mind this. Gets him out of the country and hopefully Rafa will overpay
"Manchester United have had an audacious bid to sign Gareth Bale and Raphael Varane rejected by Real Madrid. According to reports in Spain, United lodged a combined offer worth around £110million for the pair as they seek to strengthen their squad ahead of a push for the Premier League title next season."
always be arsenal the most likely ones i would say personally. City and chelsea have the funds and appeal to keep spending each season they **** up, and utd are already a massive global brand, arsenal always sell there best players each time they look like they might challenge for something, so they are the ones for me.
One of the four will have a howler. Utd did this year (as did we!) - we just weren't good enough to take advantage! Chelsea will be stable. Arsenal are relatively stable - depends who they buy tbh Utd are still in transition - all that money spent last year didn't help them that much! City will be in transition....they will buy big but will they settle down quickly enough? Truth is that it doesn't matter what they do, it's what we do that matters.....and under the current regime, I'm not holding my breath.
If Rodgers stays then priority number one should be to get a striker that (a) isn't injured for 3/4 of the season, (b) Has movement and tactical nous.....70% of Suarez's ability would do! (c) presses the ball when not in possession and (d) can feckin' score ffs - Not much to ask is it?? :
My opinion is that under mourinho cheslea will not fall down like they did under di mateeo etc. the players took control then. it showed Arsneal have a real top second line of forwards but giroud is good but not perfect. I can't see them not getting top 4 unless all injured Utd are ironed on top 4. van gaal is a hard to beat type of guy and if he gets a good forward there you go... depay comes to mind! City... anyhting could happen here. pelligrini sacking in novemebr comes to mind... thats the main hope. injury to aguero and he is toast but anyone wanting it needs to get the points
Yup....van Gaal is a tough cookie and they've already bought well imo....but much depends what they do in their less attacking positions and if any acquisitions settle in quickly. I wouldn't back against them finishing top four but we saw this year that when they wobble, they really wobble...... Whoever doesn't perform makes no difference really. Focus on our own results and everything will take care of itself.
they've enough right now.. the need a cm and cb but who doesn't. bad league and they are at least 3rd best. I am going to back them to challenge more than arsneal but i'd like to see what they do cos right up front its rooney and not much else.. depay on left side of rooney and mata right side is fine but they just need another and wilson is decent back up.
Nah.....They're fourth and that was made easier for them because we and Spurs were tosh. A couple of injuries to key players and they may struggle if they don't buy right now. They're a long way from challenging right now imo.....but that could change and I have no doubt that they will do just that eventually....probably after next season.....after all, it takes 3 years to build a title winning team doesn't it?
I think they have quality. I think the thing is after another 200 Mil this summer they must be challenging irrespective
