Lads in fairness we have to wait and see but the fact is if he's not signed up he's got to go

Yes perhaps a contract pre World Cup for 5 years was best

To be fair to the lad, he's being offered 70k, which is 20k less than that useless scrote GJ's paycheck, who is also getting it renewed! Not surprising Sterling is not happy and probably seeking a club with higher aspirations than renewing Johnson's contract.

supposedly offer 100k already...

I see the Konoplyanka rumors have kicked up again! Not really what we need, at all, though?

Just skip over to Russia, pick up Romulo and we are sorted.

Good player and will be cheap. As with Shaqiri, good value but not what we need.

Wouldn't say no to him. <ok>

DM with a big physical presence, 24 so would be the right time for a move. I know we won't get the top names so thinking outside the box a bit. Seeing as CL bought us Southampton players and no CL bought United some of the biggest names, not too excited that we would bring in anyone high profile.

Especially after this Balotelli calamity!

Bojan, who is enjoying a fruitful spell with Stoke atm and starting to show the glimpses of the player he was meant to be, looks to have ruptured his ACL. Shame that.

Dnipro: 'Konoplyanka close to Roma'

Dnipro have revealed that Roma are on the verge of signing Yevhen Konoplyanka from the Ukrainian club.

The transfer market has burst into life this afternoon, with reports that the Giallorossi have agreed to sell Mattia Destro to Milan.

That could see Konoplyanka come in to reinforce Rudi Garcia’s side, with the left-winger apparently close to agreeing a move to Serie A.

“Dnipro and Roma are in talks about Konoplyanka,” Andrei Stetsenko, director general of Dnipro told the club’s official website.

“The clubs have almost reached an agreement and Yehven is considering the possibility of changing club.”

According to Tuttomercatoweb, the clubs have agreed the transfer, but the player is weighing up his options to see whether Liverpool or Tottenham will also bid.

The site believes that Konoplyanka would prefer a move to the Premier League, but has already discussed the possibility of a four-year contract with Roma.##

The closes we've really come to a rumour in a few days.

We would be in a much better position had we spent the Soton money on better players (incl Mario as well).

We don't need to spend big in order to achieve success - Coutinho, Sturridge, Can, Moreno, Sakho (relatively inexpensive) have all cost less than £15m each (except Sakho).

Look at the squad Atletico Madrid and Dortmund assembled - both teams compete against the biggest teams in world football and have succeeded.

Whilst I do believe big finances is required for long term success, short term success can be achieved on a budget (as proven by the two teams above).

Kevin Trapp - 4m
Schar - 10m
Shaqiri - 11m
Lacazette - 18m (in the summer)

Obviously an approx but we could have got players who are young, good experience at good clubs for the same amount for 3 players who have had little experience in top flight football.

Rodgers doesn't have a clue about the defence - coaching or ability wise. As proven by thinking Lovren was a quality player, and alienating Sakho.

Bet he goes to Roma for something like 8 million Euros when we were offering 15 mil pounds last year.

Shame.

Walters, Moses and Ireland should still be more than enough for them to still finish above Everton though.

Alacaer or however he spells his name has a new contract til 2020 so there goes another option

Konoplyanka to Roma makes sense and I'm glad we can end that one too

Incredibly stupid owner and an example of what not to do when a player won't resign up

All in all this window is worse than last jan as at least then we were being mugged off not sitting with a tin cup begging

Maybe in your own mind but not mine. No signings is no signings. Couldn't give a **** who we are or are not linked to.

You know you're never gonna make a signing when even the express and star give up on the rumours. It's been a good week or so since all the Lavezzi, Higuain etc hype, and....nothing. TBH I was at least hoping we could shift a bit of deadwood, including Allen
