He'll agree a new contract soon enough. He's a top player with potential to be great. No doubt were probably haggling over 20k a week which will eventually be met and he'll sign a nice new contract.

Worry is that hat his form might dip the longer it takes so hope we can get it sorted asap and let him just concentrate on the football

But that's where playing him in the middle where pace is less effective will be good. He can learn a new trade and different skill set to use. Plenty of players have moved inside from being wingers once they get older and no reason he coulbt do the same

he'd want to figure out the decisions he makes then.

I think he's got a decision... be gareth bale... or be wrigth-phillips. Bale signed up at spurs, was the big man and was ready for real ladrid despite the intensity of the ego trip he'd walked in on with ronaldo. You put sterling i nthere at his age and he'd vanish... no question.

Put him in city and he might displace navas he might not. change the manager and he might end up a wing back who knows...

put him in cheslea and what would mourinho do with him? I dunno... i can't see him displace even willian which should be obvious as i see ramieries benched regularly cos he's smaller than mikel....

    true

though i reckon capello didn't fancy him and owen was bought by the president.

These days I think anchelotti seems to have more of a sensible president but has to pick to drive the ego. decision s about who plays are all about ronaldo... keep benzema? well ronadlo likes him passing to him. sell di maria... sure ronaldo thinks he's muck. for example.

Bale has to pass to ronadlo. sure he might be the next ego there if ronadlo's knee goes but he's got to pass to him... same for benzema isco, james etc etc. I'm sure sterling might get it but would ronaldo look twice at him?

Sorry but i don't see it... he might be our best actual player but he's some way short of that standard... I don't think thats harsh in the slightest on either us or him.

Sterling is a star in the making. Far more too his game than just pace.

We must keep onto him and whether we like it or not, he's extremely important to this team. Another indictment on the summer's spend that we rely on a 19 year old. Amazing we spent £23m on Lallana.

Looks like it will be yet another window where we fail to strengthen in areas that badly need it; Striker, GK, DM. Am not surprised anymore though.

Will it come back to haunt us as the season progresses? Probably, we got away with it last year, I doubt we will again!
As much as I agree with you, if Sterling goes, it'd be nothing short of gross mismanagement by LFC.

Now is not the right time to lose our one (potentially) world class player. He is the one player we have that can change games and regardless of age, should be in the top 2 or 3 earners....if not, the top earner. Who else deserves top pay more? Perhaps the key is to allow him to achieve that while encouraging him to continually improves with Win, Goal and assist bonuses.

Well, we've become a club that traditionally sells its one world class player annually or thereabouts... Torres, Suarez, Sterling

If we had a world class player to sell each year, I'd be happy. Unfortunately, it's every 4 or 5 years. By the time Sterling is considered world class (he's not there yet and may never be), Suarez will be a long time gone. Oh, and Torres was sold at exactly the right time <ok>

We've got loads of options this summer in the world class department so Sterling may well just get lost in the mix and still be here next season to his surprise

Lads in fairness we have to wait and see but the fact is if he's not signed up he's got to go

Yes perhaps a contract pre World Cup for 5 years was best
