Personally, I think it's Rodgers who is gone in the summer. This smacks of when Kenny was in charge and wasn't given any money in January. I feel the owners have lost faith and it's probably cheaper to get rid a single manager than a group of scouts who already fit into their desired structure.

Really?

You've signed over £200m worth of players in the Rodgers era. If you took their current values comapred to the amount paid , you'd be looking at a massive deficit, which means that the 'money ball' approach simply hasn't worked, due solely to the actual players signed.

balotelli is the sacking offense for me. a compromise indeed!

its hard to know....I feel rodgers will be judged by results in next 3/4 months. a league cup and 7th should not be enough..... but the others should all be gone.

Oh and for peace sake i'd want ayre moved off footballing matters and left to run the other stuff.

Yeah, it's all subjective and it's my opinion.

Allen and Borini are definitely Rodgers, as are Lallana, Lambert and Lovren. All of these signings coincide when he had more power to dictate which targets to pursue.

The rest are the committees IMO - and agreed on Balotelli, it was a poor signing in hindsight. However, play him with a partner i.e. Sturridge and I think he could prove to be a good signing. He's never been a lone striker - he's always played best as a supporting striker.

The committee had a chance to sign Lovren for £8m and refused. Then we finish 2nd, Rodgers gets more power and we sign him for £20m. Rumour has it that Carra recommended Lovren which is certainly plausible given how Carra constantly raves about Lovren, which puts his credibility in doubt for me.

Sturridge, Coutinho, Sakho are successes for me. Combined with Moreno, Manquillo, Can and Markovic as potential successes. And all are relatively cheap (bar Markovic).

Alberto, Aspas, Migs are some duds but at least they were cheap.

I think the first 2 have to be they are explayers of his. Lallana would seem to have his hands all over for sure, he fits the type... Lambert is one i can't say... its so odd!

I think the comment on lovern is well made re the offer prior to southampton buying but the decision as to why is difficult to say. they could after all have been convinced by his proving season in prem... but then they shelled 7 mil on ilori so why not 8 on lovern? hard to say.

the thing is carra could have f'n ayres ear for all i know and it could have been him either

In the end rodgers will be judged on league position and cups won. The transfer committee should already have been reviewed and changes should be made now for next summers work. the review was signalled what 3 months ago now? plenty of time one feels.

Two successes out of how many? (as I wouldn't have Sakho as a success as it stands)

The jury's out on some of the newer additions, but I think it's a massive stretch to say that overall the committee have done a good job.

LigTV are reporting that the 34-year-old Dutch utility player, who has slotted in everywhere from right-back to a lone striker role throughout his career, is being courted by Premier League side West Ham, Serie A team AC Milan, La Liga's Valencia, Ligue 1 outfit Lyon and his old club from the Eredivisie, Feyenoord.

Kuyt, who is also subject to further interest from the USA, Japan and China, confirmed the bids last week to our colleagues at Eurosport Turkey.

“Yes I have received offers from both within and outside Europe,” Kuyt told Eurosport TR.

Kuyt's deal with Turkish side Fenerbahce expires at the end of the season.

We asked Eurosport Turkey who they felt would win the race for his signature:

Alphan Doğualp, Eurosport Turkey: "This season is very important for Fenerbahçe. They finished the first half of the campaign top of the Süper Lig and Dirk Kuyt is their key player. They are currently fighting for their 20th championship which means Fenerbahçe will not allow him to leave any sooner than the end of the season, even if it means losing him for nothing. He wants to play at least one more year. Kuyt said he is more interested in returning to the Netherlands and will play for Feyenoord, if Fenerbahçe doesn’t offer a new contract. His existing deal is for 3 million Euros per year."

Probably the only new signing who didn't hide when we were up against it.

He works hard, plays the way we should be i.e. presses, one-twos, tries to make things happen etc.

Think we should get off his case, he can't do **** about the transfer fee paid

well thereis that... just like no player can be responsible for the fee. I just find him one trick really. That's all. its a cryuff turn and a 1/2 aorund the box or nothing. he hasn't that much pace and is very lightweight. If he gives his all you can't complain.

I think our panel may be a case of 'to many cooks spoil the broth'.

Those scouts abroad are probably commissioned by multiple clubs and suggest players they spot to the clubs they see as most in need, most appropriate, the highest paying or all of them.

One thing Rodgers did speak out about in his first season is wantting older players to bring experience and maturity to the squad but the policy not allowing it. We were linked with Sneijder at the time and had all the silly time wasting trying to negotiate a deal for Dempsey that suited our policy.

Apart from low cost signings like Lambert, Lallana is the oldest at 26. I reckon Rodgers would like a few more 26-30 year olds who have been around the block a few times.

Our policy may have especially let us down when signing a GK as GK's mature later.

Age doesn't necessarily translate to experience.

At 26, what has Lallana achieved? And what level has he consistently played at?

Coutinho at 22 has played Champions League, played for his country, played decent level in La Liga, and was at Inter when they were half decent.

Emre Can has played a few times with Bayern Munich, and was a key figure at Leverkusen.

Markovic at 20 is seen as an elite talent in world football, won titles at Partizan and Benfica, and played in Europa League.

All 3 have much more 'relevant' experience than Lallana or Lambert.
