Do you think our owners wouldn't have been lynched for letting Gerrard join Chelsea...? Nearly happened though didn't it. Rooney leaving for Man Utd. Hell, why do clubs ever let their best players go...? You can hide behind the local rivalry all you want (since you know I'm not from Liverpool so its a easy card to play) but money talks. Everton are one of the poorer clubs in the league and would absolutely sell a player to a rival if the price was right. Sell one player and buy a better team; obviously easier said than done but that's what Kenwright would be looking at.

You state that I am wrong as if its fact when in reality neither of us know for sure, we are both passing opinion. We just don't agree it could never happen. If Liverpool offered £150m and £250k per week, Barkley would switch to a red shirt. Not many Everton fans would complain about ripping Liverpool for £150m and Barkley wouldn't be too bothered when earning £13m a year. Those figures are obviously unrealistic and I'm just using them for arguments sake. The reality is, Liverpool would never offer anything near what it would take to entice Everton or Barkley.
 
The main reason the Barkley transfer won't happen is our transfer policy is still very much based on statistical analysis and Barkley has 1 assist in 61 league appearances.

Sorry but you just don't get it.

Had Gerrard left for Chelsea, of course there'd have been uproar, but it'd have subsided. Rooney went to United, it did cause uproar but it subsided (eventually).

But it's not the same thing at all, as a homegrown player of that magnitude crossing the divide inside the City.

I'm not taking any pot shot at you for not being from there either, but I'm afraid on this subject you're way out of touch with the depth of feeling. It's got **** all to do with cash, the figures are simply irrelevant.

Ask any of the local reds on here for their HONEST view on it. <ok>
 
Wouldn't mind Arbeloa - very good defender and would be a great tutor for Manquillo. Just need to get rid of Johnson first...

the fans woudl never allow it

or

the player would never do it

or

you just would absolutely hate it if it did happen



cos see i suspect somehow option 4 is what some folks on here are assuming and option 1,2,3 are what you are saying in its place.

Option 5 is LFC can't afford him..... which is the onyl sensible position for fans on either side to take.

I obviously can't comment on the feeling from within the city as you well know so I'll leave that be. There is nothing that will convince me that a deal would never happen though, every thing has a price, everything. Especially in football. The only argument you really have is the fact that Kenwright is a scouser but what if you actually found that elusive person that wants to buy Everton FC...? Do you think they'd appreciate and understand the feeling within the city...? Or do you think they'd see the £ signs...?

It's not because Kenwright is a scouser either mate and I haven't said nor intimated that, so you still don't get it <laugh>

Any owner would face the same level of pressure.
 
Being an Everton fan never stopped carragher or rush joining our club <whistle>
