Deal agree for Jacquet from Rennes. £55m but go through in the summer. Guess was only way to get the to sell but could have done with him this year. But big signing for young CB. With Konate going and vvd a year away, was vital to get one sorted. Hopefully him and Leoni can learn from vvd next year
Good news for next season. We are desperately short at RB at the moment, interesting to see if any other options come through the door today.
The praise couldn’t be much higher for this guy so nice bit of business hopefully, shame it’s not straight away, but likely the only way to get it done and secured away from the competition

This move makes little sense to me when we’ll have leoni back next season too
Gomez is a couple of weeks away, looks like we're going with Nallo and Ramsey to cover if absolutely necessary.
It's not ideal, but we simply do not sign players to plug gaps - that's where the success of signing has come over the years. We're stubborn and stick to players we are absolutely sure of.
We also can't moan about never using the academy whilst screaming to hit the transfer market when light.
This is a good signing, no need to turn it into a negative imo.

because we need a CB next year as well? Forward planning, wanted him, cat he him this winter for reasons so securing him now before his price jumps another 15m

Elliot staying at Villa. Despite Emery saying won’t sign him in summer, he’s played last few games because of injury issues at Villa and is now 3 appearances away from triggering mandatory signing.
So Elliott can look forward to 2 more appearances for Villa and then no more football for next 3 months. Shame for him, proper wasted year in his development.
