Leoni looked decent in the game he played before getting injured. Think he will be a long term CB, but if Konate goes and VVD is aging who will be alongside him is the question. Van Der Ven looks decent, and his initials are an anagram of VVD so must be fate that he replaces him!
Injury record isn't good :emoticon-0145-shake

I always felt the disappointment was missing out on a starting CB (to replace Konate) rather than Guehi himself.

Don't many of us cared who it was, just so long as they could go straight into our team.
Not even straight into the team, just good enough for the first team. None of us anticipated the drop in form from Konate.

VDV is quality and would be a brilliant signing but can't see Spurs letting go cheap, he's got 3yrs on his contract too. Probably looking at £70m+

Not as convinced on VdV ,though would have suited Klopps Liverpool, as he is very reliant on pace getting him out of trouble often caused by his own lack of defensive nous .
Admittedly playing alongside the loose cannon that is Romero makes having a secure pair difficult

Yeah, Leoni was obviously meant as a future replacement and was going to be eased into the role. Hopefully his injury doesn't set him back too much. The rapid drop in form of the two established CBs wasn't expected, but we could have done with more back up just in case.
Gomez is just never going to be anything other than the occasional stand-in.

Curtis jones is looking for £200k p/w in his new contract and a major role in the team, a level Liverpool are currently reluctant to commit to.
That's why there is genuine talk of a summer exit, with Liverpool prepared to cash in if his demands remain unchanged.

Yeah, I tend to agree, that's BS

think this is accurate. I’m wasn’t personally sold that Guehi was the new vvd taking up to new levels. He’s def an improvement on what we have available atm, but he’s played in a back 3 most of his last few years where has been impressive and for England he’s never shone (not that judging him for that).

For 300k a week wasn’t worth it to be honest. Just think it was the price, availability abd HG nature that made it a viable one but if we had a fully in for Konate, I don’t think he gets in ahead of him.

Many don't realise that is £75m/£80m just in wages on a 5 year deal for Guehi........decent CB but bloody 'ell

Igor joined West Ham on loan instead of palace on deadline day, which meant Guehi moved was called off. His loan now being terminated and going back to Brighton after barely playing for them.

Didn’t work well for anyone West Ham didn’t use him.
Palace didn’t get their replacement and 35m
Liverpool got no one.

Problem is, Konate has become an unpredictable liability who wants to leave on a free transfer in the Summer. Most of us knew that last year. His replacement should have been lined up in the Summer and he should have been sold when we could still have got some money for him. We learned nothing from the Trent shambles. If a player won’t sign a new contract, get him out and get a good replacement

We didn't all want him in the summer (and I noted your "many" too), I genuinely believe it was a less than half in favour. Because we've been **** this season, especially defensively, Guehi became like a saviour type figure for some reason.

Yep

And some of us didn't want us to renew his deal in the summer either. We have him crazy money to save face in the potentially prospect of losing three key players (VVD signed afterwards and we already knew Trent was off in reality)
Way to sensible Z
Doesn’t fit the narrative
Right up there with claiming everyone wanted Isak when many many LFC fans said one or the other not both

I'm seeing loads of Liverpool fans with short term memories wanting us to re-sign Sterling now he's a free agent <laugh>

TBF, he did play RB a few times for us :emoticon-0138-think
