when we first got him our last one , another rescue dog , would sometimes round people up and bring them with us . Once had a woman and a couple of kids walking right behind me far too close for my liking so i gave her a couple of "looks" and she just went "not our idea" and then realised Shep was happily keeping the group together . Did point out to him i'd already got a wife at home and that was more than enough :bandit:
Mrs was walking Shep one day and found some lad about 8 waiting for his mates naturally Shep gathered him up and he happily did about 1/2 mile with them <laugh>.
He was the best of the Collies we've had even if he had his problems .

Should have sent him round to Isak's a few weeks ago.

Ours is part shepherd dog so has some sort of herding instincts although not as extreme, but often find him standing behind us trying to herd us towards certain directions, not ideal when at home and don’t realise he’s there and walking around with stuff!

We were walking our dog on holiday a few years ago and out of nowhere a border collie appeared running round and round us, shepherding us along the path. The owner appeared running up moments later apologising profusely for the dog's behaviour and explaining that everything he came across needed herding. Needless to say we weren't bothered by its behaviour at all. We couldn't stop laughing.

we pretty much broke ours of it with humans but if he was in the car and we went past a field with sheep suddenly he was on full alert mode .

This is ours, Mollie. She had just come to a sudden stop, but her ears did not get the message.

Just put her in the kennels as we are due to go to Greece tomorrow, but my son has just been rushed to hospital with appendicitis and is having his operation this afternoon. Wife is now saying we should not go away whilst he is in hospital!!

We can learn a lot from dogs.

I don't know about that. Our school had a chemistry teacher that was a Doberman, the entire class failed their O levels. There again the swimming instructor was a Newfoundlander called Monty and all the class learnt to swim very well!

Two dogs.
Love my dogs.
I will be very sad when they die...
... But I'm never getting another dog... <laugh>

In the future I am only loving other people's dogs- strictly cats here on out. They don't bark and wake the house up every time they see a deer or opossum out the window at night... Or when they hear a dog a mile away barking. They don't cost thousands to get hip replacements. You can leave them alone for more than 8 hours without distressing them or having them pee everywhere.

Love my dogs... They're sweet animals... But they will be the only dogs I ever keep.

Cats are too primitive for my liking.
