A lot of sources including Romano saying we have agreed a six year deal with Ekitike and Newcastle have pulled out. If we do sign him and Guehi, I will be happy. Isak will make his own mind up, if he holds off signing a new contract with Newcastle, that will be telling

We won't be buying two forwards imo. We will see what the story with ekiteke is.

Really don't know as the business in public and using the media is not the "old way"

Maybe the club has decided that Isak is not a deal that can be done or makes financial sense at this point. If Isak holds off signing a new contract with Newcastle, it will be a very different story next year

Newcastle have no need to sell Isak. It was never going to happen unless a silly bid north of 150m and even then Newcastle aren’t struggling with psr issues and Isak isn’t kicking up a fuss.

Think lfc just tested the water but got a firm no so moved on rather than wasting time.

Ekitike can’t say seen much if any of him but his stats suggest he takes a lot of shots from silly angles low XG and misses - maybe because of the team he plays for especially after lost marmoush, so felt had to do it all himself. However from shots where he’s expected to score his XG is about on point so sort of the opposite of Nunez where he’ll score the ones he should but doesn’t score the worldie unexpected.

I’ll happily take someone that puts away the easy 1v1 (or open goals) as won’t need to be taking pot shots in this team with Salah Wirtz gakpo diaz around creating stuff.

He was loaned when injured.

He never recovered from cl game and was just pushed to Sunderland and never got fit.

He has to prove some fitness to get a loan.

He is back in preseason but I think we can't afford more Norwich style loans where the club they go to has a dickhead manager who just sees a player as a cover resource for his own few players.

Stoke played koumas and used him (i was shocked tbh)

Norwich and a few other clubs just didn't bother and benched kids. If you come looking ino lfc have to be sure you will use them provided the kids do the right things.

He will still have 2 years to go then.

Ekiteke makes some sense imo.

75 to 80? Mil is still a lot but it saves huge money for a cb

He has only turned 23 so fits the profile we used to look at perfectly.

He is a tall guy. 6 foot 3 so ideal for a central role ;)

He is fast. Which is again one of the must be things for a forward.

He can dribble. That's for sure.

He can mix it a bit.

But can He score the goals? We will see.

Having salah, wirtz. Diaz and ekiteke we might have trouble actually getting a pass but they could beat everyone on the park for fun.

Seriously though I think its a better deal than grossly over paying for the older player.

If Newcastle have the hump Southampton style and pulled out of their deal for this player we might as well try it on.

As for the timing? Well the tour goes out next week so getting him in to get to camp would be sensible.

Is this KiteKat any good?
Maybe. Is he £70+m probably not.

I suppose he is young, so could work out. But honestly 22 goals in 48 last season, 4 in 16 the year before for Frankfurt. Overall 50 in 151, doesn't fill me with loads of confidence about him.

I think Sesko would have been the better option for a similar price

That's a good way to look at it.

A player at frankfurt might think of himself as needing to be a game changer or risk taker and try more things.

Torres record when he arrived at anfield was not great. We were constantly reminded of it until game one of the season and after than nobody ever commented on his goal scoring again.

I just have not seen etitke over a few moves to see how he really moves as a striker.

Nunez looked great for benfica out wide running benedict Arnold and Robertson ragged and got in at the side to score.

But he hasn't a clue half the time where the danger zone is and rarely is in the place you want a scorer to be

If ekiteke feels that and he can run fast, dribble and pass and is tall too then he's got to be worth a punt.

Sesko scored 13 last season in the same league and 14 before.

All this striker talk is kind of sad.

Not on that level ok, I can't be going back over :emoticon-0153-broke it.

I'm talking about jayden danns.

Over the past, what 20 years? We have not generated another fowler or Owen.

Danns is the closest I've seen to a kid who genuinely knows where the goals is and instinctively sees the finish required.

He is not in the frame at all in this conversation as his body hasn't allowed him to force his way in. He will be 20 next January.

He's lost all the time since the u18s and bursting into klopps league cup team.

I don't think he had the pace you need but he has lost so much development and fitness time that he will now struggle to even get a club.

And for me that is sad. Of all of the players I would have said he really gets it.

I hope he can get fit this preseason. He is in training

He seems slow, though, from what I've seen. That said, Mateta isn't exactly Darwin, but I know which of the two I'd prefer at #9.

I'm 100% certain that it's Isak's agent throwing all this out in the open. But adopting Real tactics is a bit ****ty indeed. Almost down to Chelsea/Barca arrogance levels. We had really good vibes with Newcastle and their fans after the LC. I visit Newcastle a lot, and the people are very warm to Liverpool and Scousers - this may upset a lot of them. Don't get me wrong - we were always going for Isak, and none of us would complain too much if we got him at @£120m (though he just isn't worth that much), but this is becoming reminiscent of the Virgil/Southampton ickyness. But be honest, we had to get Virgil at whatever cost, no matter how it upset the Soton fans.

I agree….but I’d still get aggy with how Madrid go about their business. We’re a fickle lot, us footy fans.

Unfortunately we’re past the ‘old way’

The old way was The Anfield Boot room, or United under Ferguson.

Football is no longer just a sport, it’s a multi million pound business where kicking a football is just a by product. With the advent of social media etc, clubs players agents etc all have their say in public . In the past we knew very little about players, they were on a pedestal and seeing them on a weekend was a highlight, it still is but the mystique has gone.

I don’t how this question is going to go down

everything surrounding it is sad but as I haven’t really seen anything of its ilk before

how does the insurance money for Diogo play into this

I assume there is some and I assume it will pay out quickly ?

or am I wrong here.

I apologise if this comment offends anyone - it is not meant to but it is something that I assume effects the club and its current direction

You should head over to the Newcastle board. They have a real dislike for Liverpool and the rest of the ‘big 6’ because they think they’re all out to get Newcastle and stop them with the takeover and sponsorship rules etc. seems to have got a lot worse over last couple years as Newcastle have got better.

Saying that majority of them are good to talk to but they aren’t fond of lfc for sure.

Not sure anyone can give an answer. I’d imagine club has insurance against all players - prob a certain % of remaining contract length or something. It might cover some of the wages that lfc are apparently passing on to the family
