Not wanting to turn this into a Klopp v Slot academy-off but seeing as you brought it.up. Just a few academy players getting first team debuts under Klopp, listed as a decent team - Kelleher, Trent, Quansah, Phillips, N.Williams, Morton, Jones, Bajcetic, Wilson, Danns, Doak

A mixed bag of success, some sold, some established, some knocking on the door but all got at least a chance. He gave 40+ graduates their senior debuts.

Yes and he moved them on too. They had to actually be good enough to play.

Nico williams still isn't good enough. He's done well.
Wilson was never fast enough and wasn't in the game enough and never has got that going. He imo was at least as good as jones ever was.
Elliott isn't our youth. He is Fulhams but we poached him. he simply isn't fast enough for his ideal slot and not positive enough for 10. I'm confident he will do OK as well.
Quansah is good. He just needs games. Is he good enough? Its up to him i guess.

Giving them a debut is one thing..its a good thing.

Breaking them into the squad genuinely is another.

Right now Bradley will be the last and we took him at 18 after a long association with us due to the brexit rules (cant come over) we loaned him and then klopp played him. His fitness has hurt his chances imo. Will slot give him game or will he sit him on his arse cos frimpong is older and better.

We will see.

But here is the thing.

Ask who is actually good enough in the youths.

There isn't any.

Not to play for a top 4 club regularly or at least develop. Not like the players at city.

Name a few you all think might be good enough.

I didn't have Elliott on the list.

I don't know the youth players as well as you do but of the ones listed, I would like to see Morton, Danns and Bajcetic given a chance. From the younger players, Pinnington (local), Esdaille (local), Ngumoha (pinched from Chelsea), Morrison and Nallo look very promising, all too young for the step up just yet.

Exactly…

The point is Klopp sold off youth players, Slot is doing similar to youth players on the fringes and yet he’s being criticised for it.

Everyone was pissed when Clark left last year saying huge mistake, could be great player… then goes to Salzburg does nothing and talk of him moving on again to a lower level. Maybe Slot and the bods in charge with years of football and player development between them have a better idea about what youth players will make it and which won’t and can be moved on.
I don't recall any"huge mistake" vibes! He looked decent and I didn't recall any push back when her left. It's different in my eyes at least to Quansah and Elliott where any idiot can see they have talent.

It's up to the coaching staff and management to improve these players when it's clear they are talented enough to be coached and improved. Bradley might actually be the next out the door, is that right?

can't see Bradley being moved on this window particularly as Frimpong may be needed to cover for Salahs absence during ASCON .

I'll leave this conversation alone actually because who knows and if it's best for the club then great and perhaps this will all work out with us being back on top and winning lots of trophies.

It's just my opinion that I have doubts, a feeling that I have and I hope that I'm wrong.

Genuinely excited by the transfers in I just feel that itt should have been an addition to what we already have and a way of combining our academy with transfers instead of removing some genuinely talented young players.

I'll leave my points on the table and stop banging on now.

No, but he might find his opportunities limited like quansah did if he doesn't aggressively push his case every chance he gets. He's a good lad but he does make mistakes and get cards. He could be excellent. If slot works with him as you say.

Slot doesn't give them a chance, he hardly plays fringe players never mind youth. He has his preferred eleven and a few others that occasionally play.

To suggest Klopp didn't give youngsters a chance I'd laughable.

Bollocks , he's been here for ONE season he's still finding his feet at LFC .To say he didn't give certain people a chance is a bit harsh

ICE deportation timeline is by skin tone... resembling my Eastern European side of the family more than the British side, I suspect I'll be deported AFTER the Mediterraneans but before the Western Europeans. Right now they're still working through the non Europeans for deportation first. (Joking aside, I could be on the list for a technicality- but that's something for a different thread).

Wipe your phone, mate. They literally deported a dude (an Aussie?) recently because he had an unfavorable meme of Vance on his phone. Place is getting very Cabaret in the 30s. :emoticon-0138-think

I agree with all of this. I have the same doubts. It's an instinctive thing based on how quickly Slot came in and didn't even give some a chance before they were moved on - Carvalho (not youth but fringe), Koumetio, Clark and Blair. He took a while to get the feel of the club, disappearing down the tunnel at the end of the game instead of clapping the fans, for example. He is still learning. Very grateful for what he's achieved obviously.

I note that nobody has yet named a lfc youth that should be given a chance.

Basically there's a list of imports that can be trotted out easily enough but are any of them even good enough?

Nallo
Nyoni
Ayman
Ngumoha

If I'm looking to the rest of the u21s and returning loanees there's not a single 2 i could pick out as really being "the one"

Danns has been crocked. Any time I see a player thst crocked at thst age and lose thst amount of time I have to wonder. Playing in v psv was a massive mistake amd he was destroyed.

As u18s or just 18 there's maybe a couple, maybe. But nothing you'd hang your hat on.

They all need to develop and show they understand the level needed.
