Diaz is an odd one. At 28 it’s his last big contract so can see why if lfc aren’t discussing things his agent would be looking around - especially if rumours that he’s ‘only’ on around 80k are true.

Hes def ahead of Jota and Nunez and was 3rd highest scorer for us last year covering multiple positions.

Do think if a huge bid came in then prob time let him go and reinvest on a versatile forward especially as gakpo more than capable at LW.

With year left though would we be wanting to give him a deal that he wants? If not are the club happy to keep him this year and leave for a free in a years time?

£55k is what I read. Tsimikas is on more than him.

I doubt he was pushed. Prob sat down and said you will be 3rd 4th choice this year but there is interest. And Quansah prob decided he would go and get first team football.

I don’t think when someone comes in for 4th choice Cb at 35m you can turn it down really - especially if slot has doubts. Let’s be honest Quansah is a promising player but he wouldn’t start for anyone in top 6.

He’s not quick enough and has a very bad habit of running into traffic in middle of the pitch and then flicking it back/sidewards when confronted with opponents - just look at the goal conceded v United where Bruno I think scored from 40 odd yards.
Telling someone they've gone from backup to the first pairing to 4th is pushing. You're then picking bad moments and traits and forgetting all the good ones.

Could you ever say winning the league was a fluke? I know rival fans say it when we win the league but it's not like winning a cup, for example, when you played mostly non-PL teams or the other team in the final were missing significant players or any other number of factors that could be described as culminating in a fluke win.

Slot was under relatively little pressure this season and smashed the league. This coming season there will be pressure, not so much to retain the title because unless you're city, that's been impossible but to see how he plays with 'his' team'. Bedding in new players isn't easy. That said, I'm excited for the new season and watching to see what impact these great new players will have.

I still have concerns about his 'attitude' (maybe not the right word?) towards the youngsters. He's still learning about the club and fans and what's important to us.
I think he has to win the league again with who we've brought in and the transitional state off our rivals. I think that's the very least we should expect.

Oh I dunno.

Thry have to look good as nobody can predict the future or the perofrmance of others.

I think maybe put it like we would expect at least the same points again and more given we hardly tried a leg for the last 5 games.

90 points as a target based on filling the obvious squad gaps transfers are creating.

Injuries and such can have a massive image. We cant be expecting to just win the thing.

I think we can expect them to look like they want to and give it a damn good try.

Losing big ibou is a worry, apparently he's rejected our contract offer.

This guy is the next vvd and we already have him, be stupid to lose him imo

Pay him

I have a feeling we could offer him £300k a week and he'd still reject it. He's on the Trent path. Besides, he's constantly prone to muscle injuries - offering him Virgil money would be ludicrous. But he's at least two levels better than Guehi, that's for certain, so even offering him £300k a week would be cheaper than spending £50m on transfer fees and £150k a week on wages for Guehi.

Ornstein saying LFC have set their price for Elliott........£40m with a buy back clause,or £50m without.

Seems fair ........ :emoticon-0176-smoke

Buy back makes me feel a little easier... shame if he becomes a star one day (as he might) and we look the fools who missed out.

That's 3 academy graduates in one window.

Slot will want to stamp his mark on the team; I'm hoping it's not at the expense of the club's identity. I know I'm exaggerating but it was almost as if, when he first came in, he couldn't wait to offload some of the youngsters. I hope his admission that he didn't rotate enough will maybe see him use more youngsters this season.

He doesn't seem the type to wait for them to reach potential, he wants players ready made to work now. We may win more silverware under Slot, but I don't think we'll see many youth step up to the next level. I hope I'm wrong though- I guess it is only one season so far.

Its not a fluke as we could have got 90 points.

However it was easy in the end and we could arse about for 5 games pissing me off. We cannot legislate for poor opposition.

We did our bit and hopefully will do our bit again. If others dont match up its not like we did it on 70points.

Slot has no pressure now par se but theres expectation. People see 100mil signing and think cl win.

Klopp "disappointed" some with a mere cup double rather than a quad ffs.

Some people eh?

Slot/hughes has to show 3 things.

Squad is future proofed. Succession planning and 2 players per position.
Squad is working hard - standards
Squad is delivering now - capable and delivery.

Hughes cannot allow the club to end up with an aging squad as he sells half the kids off.

Hughes cannot allow Slot to accumulate players or indeed not paly big lfc assets.

Slot has to set the actually squad standards and maintain them. (I said he failed the test in those last 5 games) every game theres expectation to win even if a friendly. Every day in training is where he gets this done

Slot has to set them up to win . He'sdone alright so far! He has to learn to rotate and preserve his players.

Overall thus is now a period of transition after a good hard look over 12 months.

We were back stabbed by trent
We were backed by salah and vvd
We have bought some top young talent.
We are now selling off paluers Slot doesn't want.

We shouldn't get down because players go. we should see what is coming behind them and the shape of the 25 man squad.

I'm hopefully it will be fitter, faster and more capable than last year.

I think we have to be favourites, but it can't be a requirement.

I wouldn't be surprised if we get off to a slight rocky start, a large portion of the starting XI will have turned over and have no competitive experience together. I'm sure by the end of the season we will be strong and the in-form team, but I hope fans don't get too impatient if we start a little rough.

Nyomi has just signed a new contract, tbf, and I think we've poached a few talents this summer. I just think Slot has sat down with Edwards and said "Nah, seen this guy and that guy for a year now and they don't fit my plans". I think we're going to have a smaller squad and a wage bill focussed on quality, not quantity. Probably means we won't even attempt to compete in the domestic cups (I'm still convinced that we only got to the LC final last year because the draws were favourable - even in the first leg of the semi against Spurs Slot (understandably) put out a weakened side).

I expect to win the league every year mate <laugh> and every year the expectation evolves as the season progresses.

I'm looking forward to really exciting football. I'd like to win the lot, obviously, but don't forget we'll be in transition too especially if we let go of Nunez, Diaz, Robbo, Jota, Konaté - just for starters if rumours turn into reality.

I've never had a minimum expectation. Humour me (if it was just one) - league or CL?
