Often things only make sense when you're in possession of all the facts. We're not, so speculation isn't worth much. We may not agree with the reason even if we know it, but one always exists.
When a new manager wins the Premier League in his first season in the role he’s under even more pressure the next season to repeat and prove it wasn’t a fluke. We’ve bought Kerkez, Frimpong Wirtz with others likely to be added to prove it wasn’t. Just because Players like Quansah/Elliott have gone / will most likely leave doesn’t change that.
Yes there's pressure anyway but under the (don't want to think about it) scenario where it doesn't work out from Slot are these sales a good idea? I like the buy back clause for Quansah for that very reason I hope we do the same with Elliott.
I think your worrying about nothing mate. Micheal Edwards rarely makes mistakes in the market so I fully trust him and his team to give slot the tools hell need to hopefully retain the title. What happened to your slot to dominate attitude from last week?
Losing big ibou is a worry, apparently he's rejected our contract offer. This guy is the next vvd and we already have him, be stupid to lose him imo Pay him
I think we will win the league, it's the best squad in the PL by far there's always a but though and personally I thought that the likes of Quansah and Elliott gave us a deep squad capable of challenging on all fronts and our willingness to move them on worries me, both Liverpool fans and one from the area, they get the club and we need those kinds of players.
Are you trying to find things that bring out the negative in me? Alisson and Taffarel are very close. Hope it doesn't have an affect on him.
I'm more worried about the keepers being coached by different guys cos the gk standard was immense with tafferell
Sounds like Harvey wants gametime... Which he won't get here... Not enough of anyway. @luvgonzo should apologise to pep slot
I hope he goes to Germany of he can't get a prem team, will get plenty of gametime over there and he's the right age to do a year or two there before a big move if it goes well
I doubt he was pushed. Prob sat down and said you will be 3rd 4th choice this year but there is interest. And Quansah prob decided he would go and get first team football. I don’t think when someone comes in for 4th choice Cb at 35m you can turn it down really - especially if slot has doubts. Let’s be honest Quansah is a promising player but he wouldn’t start for anyone in top 6. He’s not quick enough and has a very bad habit of running into traffic in middle of the pitch and then flicking it back/sidewards when confronted with opponents - just look at the goal conceded v United where Bruno I think scored from 40 odd yards.
Could you ever say winning the league was a fluke? I know rival fans say it when we win the league but it's not like winning a cup, for example, when you played mostly non-PL teams or the other team in the final were missing significant players or any other number of factors that could be described as culminating in a fluke win. Slot was under relatively little pressure this season and smashed the league. This coming season there will be pressure, not so much to retain the title because unless you're city, that's been impossible but to see how he plays with 'his' team'. Bedding in new players isn't easy. That said, I'm excited for the new season and watching to see what impact these great new players will have. I still have concerns about his 'attitude' (maybe not the right word?) towards the youngsters. He's still learning about the club and fans and what's important to us.
