Indeed. Had this argument with some arsehole on Twitter after the Southport murders, They reckoned the girls weren't Scouse as Southport is not in Liverpool. By that reasoning, Gerrard and Reid aren't Scouse (Huyton), Carragher isn't Scouse (Bootle), and neither was Paul O'Grady or Glenda Jackson (Birkenhead).
It's funny - being from Walton, it would never have occurred to me growing up that Bootle wasn't actually in Liverpool, it was so close and obviously everyone had the Carragher accent.

Not local so maybe missing something here but aren’t they all place in liverpool?

Same was Westminster is a region of London.
I'm sure you know this, but strictly speaking Westminster isn't a part of London, but the term "London" is used synonymously with Greater London.
The City of London and the City of Westminster are parts of the Greater London administrative area that includes 30 or so independent metropolitan boroughs.
So, similarly the City of Liverpool is a borough of Merseyside, along with several others including those mentioned by Donga.
You could probably say the term Scouser is similar to Cockney in that it refers to those from a fairly small, defined area, but is used more generally for people in the vicinity.

You're right, Warrington is half way to Manchester and if you're shopping there, it's 50/50 LFC and utd merchandise in the shops.

Tranmere , at a stretch I'd say it's local-ish because of its proximity to Liverpool and unlike Warrington, they share the scouse accent.
People in Tranmere are like myself they don't have a Scouse accent they have a Merseyside accent.I'm from Edgehill originally and my Scouse accent has changed to a Merseyside accent.Even north and south Liverpool have different accents.

From Paul Joyce

Alisson reveals he rejected interest from Saudi Arabia this summer and plans to stay at Liverpool for many years to come. Also, he says Liverpool told him of their interest in Giorgi Mamardashvili and believes he would be a good signing

No, tickets were $250 each when I checked... I have three kids who all would have wanted to go, so unless I was a bastard and left one or more at home it would have cost me $1000 so I passed.

Christ on a bike. United, us, and Arsenal are ****ing huge over there now, aren't we? I'm not saying I agree with it, but that 39th league game they proposed would sell out in the States, wouldn't it? From a purely brand point of view, you can see why FSG won't ever let go. For better or worse... :emoticon-0108-speec

Yeah, the slower, more precise accent was very different from the one I grew up with.
When I first saw Michael Angelis on telly I hardly recognised his accent.
It's a bit odd I suppose, as I went to senior school with lads from all over the area, but then there were probably a load of Wools in there as well so I didn't distinguish between a South Liverpool accent and them foreigners. :)

More from Alisson. Very good news that.

from the bbc

"I want to honour my contract and finish my contract here or make a new one. I am really happy here. My family is happy," said Alisson, whose contract runs until 2026.

I never got to the point where I was talking about wages and things like this. It was just interest, but when you hear about the numbers the other players are getting you are a little bit attracted. That is normal

"I knew about that [Mamardashvili] before it came out on social media and that is a good message for me because the club cares about what I think," said Alisson.

"They are doing the right thing but, on my side, as long as I have my contract here and as long as I am happy here, the club is happy with me, my family is happy here, [so] I will stay."

Best news all window.

Ud be walking in this summer and getting new contract signed if I were hughes

2026 is not time away.

Same for salah and vvd. Give them what they want for 1 year more. If they won't sign for tjst then see what compromise on time and money can be made.

Give trent what he wants for 5 yesrs. 350k? Is that what he wants or 250k?

When you've 4 genuine top players and none are sorted it should be priority.

Oh and crescendo baby.

Absolutely, and some of the pro gridiron stadiums are enormous. Charlotte I've been to four or five times, twice for Liverpool games, once for PSG and once for City... It's 75k and that's not one of the larger ones. It was always pretty full.... Granted, less than half the price it was in Columbia.

Feel like, after seeing a couple of Slot games now, we should have sold Nunez. That's not a slight at him, I think he brought a lot to Klopps team in the chaos and space he created.

I just don't see him fitting well in Slot's tactics. His value is going to deprecate on the bench for Slot until we do eventually sell him.

Probably should have sold and replaced him with a more Slot like player this summer.

Sold to who? Was no links to anyone buying him. And it’s early days, Jota will no doubt need a rest if he doesn’t get injured and Nunez will bring a very different threat.

There’s a player there and slot even talked about getting him central and in the box to score goals.

I've a gut feeling that Nunez will do well under Slot. Don't know why, just a guy feeling.

I'm sure Chelsea would buy him for twice what we did.
