I know all that mate, I posted it a few days ago. I was asking mito for a link where Zubimendi is "demanding a huge pay rise" and quotes from his manager talking about it.You must log in or register to see media

I could go along with that if Zubimendi had turned us down for another club or a higher wage increase at his present club than the tripling of his current salary that we were offering. He's currently on €57,000 (approx £49.000).On the Zubimendi saga, do people really think players give a monkey about where they play?
Do you really expect a Spaniard to have a life long affinity with Liverpool, would it make you feel better if he came out with the usual drivel. "I've supported them since I was a kid" " it's always been my dream to play for them", or God forbid joining and kissing the ****ing badge.
I'm playing at home, my wife and kids are settled, it's OK here v what are you offering to up root my entire life?
It's a business transaction, nothing more nothing less.
It's not about swallowing pride, or moving on because he's not 100% committed.
If he's good enough, for the right price, sign the bloody lad.
What a batard!
I would guess RS, in order to persuade him to stay said they would give him a pay rise. He's then declared he's staying and gone back to them with what he thinks (or has been) offered elsewhere to which they've balked at the number.I could go along with that if Zubimendi had turned us down for another club or a higher wage increase at his present club than the tripling of his current salary that we were offering. He has a buyout clause which is fixed so his asking price isn't going up whether he wins the Euros, the World Cup or anything else.I would guess RS, in order to persuade him to stay said they would give him a pay rise. Remember this guy has turned down a number of clubs before, he'll know his value and it'll have gone up dramatically since winning the Euros
We should buy imo. He appears the one we wanted and will improved our 6 issue. Who cares how he got there just so long as he does what is needed
I see you use the very best sourcesAs examples: originally their manager spoke to marca but put it out there that he might still go.

The exact same scenario happened in 2022 when he got his current 50k a week to 2027. He issued a bid on him to push them into it.
This is now reported again

He now wants to be their highest paid player
If anyone really believes he was offered 150k a week by us or thst he only wants half that to stay then that's their business.
The pattern from the player is very clear.
There's nothing in there that backs up your comment that he was asking for a huge pay rise. If he's so greedy and clever at getting what he wants, wouldn't he have secured the big pay rise before rejecting his suitors? And already have got himself much more than the £50k he's currently on?I see you use the very best sources
Surprised you didn't have one from the Express. There's nothing in there that backs up your comment that he was asking for a huge pay rise. If he's so greedy and clever at getting what he wants, wouldn't he have secured the big pay rise before rejecting his suitors? And already have got himself much more than the £50k he's currently on?
You're seeing it as him playing the club. I'm seeing it as the club playing him.Yes there is..he wants to be the best paid player at that club.
Not only that is repeats the exact trick he puller in 2022
You're seeing it as him playing the club. I'm seeing it as the club playing him.
Is he really going to turn down Arsenal, Bayern Munich and us, over a period of time to end up on £49k and see that as great negotiating skills? It all points to him not wanting to leave the club and the club using that to offer him very small monetary incentives to stay.
Things exactly what he did. He turned down clubs and signed a new higher contract.
Now he's flirted, got his offer, turned it down and turned round and demanded the same out of his club. 2 years down the road.
This is classic having cake and eating it stuff.
His attitude is so far away from a top player that we really have got lucky here.
The facts his character doesn't seem to have filtered his.out of our selection process should be worrying.
