Not an untrue word in it.

Did bob paisley not say let them age on someone else's pitch?

Was bob paisley nasty then?

I said good for him.

He can play for the legends any time and get a good welcome back

But he wasn't within 5 miles of being good enough to play for lfc in the prem or in cups at his stage of career and wasn't ready to be a coach so off he goes and good luck to him.

Like we were expecting klopp to give matip a new contract to get him past his injury too. Loyalty is a cool trait in life but in building a squad at the elite level it can backfire.

It backfired with hendereon amd fabinho so we ended up 5th. (but we got very lucky with fees we got in the end)

Let's see what lfc do with the keeper positions next.

Doesn't have to be untrue to be nasty. :)

Difference between letting a player pass his best move to a new team before they drop off a cliff and become a burden - and your 3rd choice goal keeper who is there to help the younger keepers as well as be available if needed but not expect to play 1 minute of football.

Don't know - he never wrote anything on this forum.

Bob paisley would know that people are not making personal comments about the player's character.

He'd know that he has 17 total player slots for foreign players and would want the very best players possible there given the limited resources available.

I'm fairly sure if sir Bob paisley would lay hands on a nice lad to help coach young players then he would call them a coach not a player.

Isn't it every senior player's responsibility to pass on info and standsrds to youths?

Doesn't alisson do this? Why do we need a 3rd keeper to do it.

Doesn't kelleher start needing to do this?

Doesn't salah do this? He certainly has been talked about as doing it with Elliott.

Doesn't Robertson (when not shaving off eye brows)

Why would lfc need a 37 going on 38 year old keeper that just won't play holding a foreign player slot open while the club has the coaches employed and other senior players to do it.

If kelleher goes then second keeper is the question. That's far more important than keeping a 3rd keeper.

We actually might go buy a 2nd keeper who is not hg and put a younger player in as 3rd keeper who is hg.

Who knows.

The important point is nobody on here would be happy to consider Adrian moving up to 2nd gk for us, would they??

In any event he has left and like all others they will be back as guests if they like and treated well but his tike as a player was long since up.

You realise not one person on this entire board has said it’s a bad decision and we should keep Adrian?

He was out of contract, we didn’t ‘need’ another foreign slot as transfer window hasn’t been open for last 6 months.

He’s now gone after expiration of his contract after doing a decent enough job stepping in for Alisson when he was injured before Kelleher took over. Won us a trophy on his debut and has now left.

It’s possibly to just say decent player, seems a nice bloke, nice words said. Hopefully we can fill that 3rd slot with a better option which will allow us to use the foreign place if we’re struggling on someone that’ll improve the first team.

Adrian officially leaves LFC.

Really nice message to the fans. Not even MITO can say bad word about that.

I am making this video to thank you from the bottom of my heart for everything you have given me during this beautiful and successful journey together.

"In five years you have showed me so many things. That wearing the Liverpool shirt and defending the Liverpool badge should be added to the seven wonders of the world.

"That 11 yards is nothing when it comes to winning a title. That London is really Anfield South. That the scouse accent is not difficult, it is for chosen and special people. That tradition has been protected. That YNWA is not just and anthem, it is a philosophy of life.

"I will be grateful for you for life. Once a red always a red."
That’s the best leaving message I’ve seen. Wish him all the best. Always had a smile on his face.

I've not given him years of abuse no 1 and no 2 there'd nothing wrong with criticising the club for keeping players past their prime.
Because we mostly just watch games I think it's easy to forget that these guys spend a huge chunk of their lives together whilst at a club. At a relatively happy club (which I think ours has been), they can build up a strong relationship with each other. Just because a player doesn't get game time doesn't mean he isn't an important part of the set-up.
You could see that the three keepers got on well with each other as a group, and maybe Adrian played a bigger part in that than we see. He wasn't as good as the other two, but his input and experience can still be important, and can also be invaluable to the younger keepers coming up.
If the club felt it was worth keeping him for that, and to have an experienced number 3, then I'm fine with that.
The "thank god he's gone" thing was unnecessary, just a "thanks, and best wishes" would have been a nicer way to send him off, wouldn't it?
Footballers are people too.

This is pretty much how I see it. He was offered another contract for the coming season which speaks volumes to his value to the club. I like the fact that, as a club, we engender a family feeling. People can say there’s no room for sentiment as much as they like and while that’s good and I agree as a general principle, there has to be exceptions or you lose the wise old heads guiding the youngsters.

Klopp said it doesn’t matter what people think of you when you join the club, it’s what they think of you when you leave that’s more important. I’d say that conversely applies to how players (and managers) think about the club and fans when they leave. I’d always players speak well of their experience with us than the opposite.

agree. You never know if ex players are going to go on and become coaches/managers/agents - perhaps still go on and carry on playing and end up playing/manager/coaching with a player who we are then keen on signing.

Of course money/playing time/current club form will play a part but I’d like to think if they then had a chat to that ex player, having only nice things to say about the club/city/people may help sway that player into choosing lfc
