From what I’ve read slot is more a guardiola and about control than film throttle so although they press it’s not quite as dramatic. Although who knows if he’ll do the same at lfc etc. it’s all ifs and buts until he’s got everyone in place. Might look at the squad during pre season and think they’re suited to diff style etc

Yeah, it's hard to know based on the balance and any infleuncers and internet types like romano thinking they know what will be wanted is just guessing.

Slot is meant to want fast first touch passing and width plus plays a back 4 but it's very hard to say if he's going to walk in and declare he wants his system or no style or adapts to the country and pampers available.

In the end he's clearly already feeling the pressure but we will see.

Coming in a week earlier and just having players too **** to be in internationals or kids is all well.and good but we will see what good comes.of it. You'd hope they get that youth development coach sorted but it really should be someone from the academy as a promotiion

I know we have a lot of young players like, but...

All I'm saying is it's a big step up and he's a lot of work to do to understand the targets he has to reach with the players.

If he does that well we will run for 90. If he doesn't or he's got people playing computer games over fitness then we are likely to look ****.

Klopp turned off the computer fitness stuff as there was the same injuries but players constantly being pulled out to rest and our running dropped.

If that's brought back then it will be interesting to see if the muscular injuries we had a lot of drop off or not.
I agree with you, it is a huge step up. He'll be dealing with super elite athletes. If it was just a case of a job involving understanding how the human body works, reacts, recovers etc. and applying skills, then we'd be seeing a lot more super elite athletes. The other thing I will add is - levels.

Ruben Peeters will become Liverpool’s new first team lead physical performance coach, and is joining the Dutchman in making the move from Feyenoord to Anfield. He had previously served as head of performance at the Eredivisie club over the past three seasons, following six years as a physical coach with Belgian side KRC Genk.

Our new Physical Performance coach is called "Rubbin' Peters?" :bandit:

Are we sure we haven't signed a gay porn star by accident?

Yes they are. The ones I'm referring to anyway. I'm not talking about Bob who turns out for the Dog and Duck on a Sunday morning.

If you know the definitions of 'athlete' 'super' and 'elite', professional footballers would be pretty near the top of the tree.

I'd say top modern footballers have a pretty high standard of athleticism.
They cover a wide range of physical skills: they need to sprint, jump, twist and turn and control a ball at the same time, they need stamina and body strength.
Obviously not all display all of these skills to the same level, but all in all the best are on a par with many other athletic disciplines - many of which have narrower, more specialised skill-sets.

the vast majority just aren't elite athletes .
Read my comment again. I was talking about the players Slot will be dealing with. Try telling Salah he's not an elite athlete.

In general terms, professional footballers are elite athletes. Z provided the definition above of what an elite athlete is which is what I said, 'if you know the definitions of elite and athlete ...'

Are you suggesting that the players at Feyenord weren’t elite athletes though?

By your definition Tsimikas is an elite athlete as is DCL .
