I'd just like to point out that not one person on here even mentioned Lavia prior to the transfer window opening yet it's now somehow a disaster to miss out on this crucial final piece of the jigsaw

Lavia is a very talented player who I think will go onto great things. Even if we manage to sign him, he alone isn’t enough.

And I'm not sure that we "missed out" is fair. We bid what we saw as worthwhile, then we came back and bid more than what we thought he was worth... Twice more.
In Lavias case he didn't chose Chelsea over us. They didn't get to him first. We tried and Southampton wanted an unreasonable fee. Move on and get someone better if we're spending that much. Why settle for Lavia? Great kid, but too young to be played every week.
The plus side about not signing Lavia is that my autocorrect keeps changing his name to Labia and Lavish and that's going to get really tiring fixing that autocorrect all year long.

Morning all. Well that’s that chapter closed (thank feck!), onwards and upwards….still plenty of time to broker deals for good players.

Palhinha 28 Fulham- Might cost a fair bit for a player who doesn't have as many years as the others we've chased.
Amrabat 26 Fiorentina- Had a great WC, but nobody seems to have made a move for him, rumoured cost around £30m
Kimmich 28 Bayern- Extremely versatile, unknown availability
Phillips 27 Man City- Had a year injured and bench warming
Sangaré 25 PSV- Not heard of him till yesterdays mess, Dutch league 50/50
Florentino Luís 23 Benfica- ? Highly rated apparently.
Doucouré 23 Palace- Not at the £70m quoted price
Zubimendi 24 Sociedad- Had a great season propelling them to CL with Silva
Højbjerg 28 Spurs- Isn't fancied by the new manager, looks like he's off to Spain
Koné 22 BMG- Already flirted wit him this summer
Tchouaméni 23 Real Mad- I mean its who we've always wanted, not very likely though.

Kone's injured until mid-September, but wouldn't be surprised if we made a bid in January.
Fulham were wanting silly money for Palinha, think we'd be more likely to go for Doucoure at that price unless we can get him cheaper. Don't see Kimmich, Amrabat, Phillips, Hojbjerg or Tchouameni happening. No idea about the others.

I'm going to put this out there but 95% of that list is agent made up and I'll be thinking whoever we now picot too is not on that list.
I didn't look at rumours, just googled DM's
They were the top ones that weren't either retired, over 30, just moved clubs or never going to happen imo.

essentially, we did walk away. We could have stumped up £50m weeks ago, we chose not to.
apparently we have bid 60mil to annoy cheslea more.

someone needs sacking over what is now a potential 10million loss. just thrown away.
Well it's a bidding war and Chelsea want both so it's quite possible we would have been in this situation anyway.
