What makes you think Chelsea will cough up? They had the opportunity to buy him last night. The players agent can say he prefers Chelsea but Brighton hold his contract, the agreement is to sell him to us. You’re also missing the fact that if we are prepared to pay £111m why would Brighton not say to Chelsea he will cost the same as we agreed with Liverpool, if Liverpool withdrew their offer?
Mate he has refused to come to you so your bid is null and void.
If they want to sell him they will have to accept the best bid they can get from a club he will go to, Failing that just keep him.

That’s irrelevant as Brighton don’t have to accept Chelsea’s lower bid.

my take is that the reason why chelsea have not made a new offer yet is because they wanted LFC to pull out so Brighton would be forced to accept their bid.

because we haven’t withdrawn, means chelsea are now scrambling around to put together a new offer

Your bid is now out of the game which is why he's not a Liverpool player now.

But the player holds the aces (or his agents do). At the end of the day, as and when Liverpool do withdraw their offer (please God soon - this is excruciating) it's up to brighten whether they sell or not, but now Chelsea hold some aces too - he only wants to play for them, he said so. So he's only going to one bidder, and that bidder knows that if Brighton don't accept their bid that they're sitting on a valueless ornament - or a £100m asset if they sell to Brighton.

The bottom line is that we didn't do due diligence with the player and his agent. We utterly ****ed up. Suck it up. As you infer, Chelsea could still drop back down to their £80m offer now and still be in the driving seat. We need to walk away now - we're somehow becoming more of a laughing stock by the hour, if not the minute.

Fatal amature error from both clubs.
The player is not a slave or commodity so should be part of the process.

if the player really didn’t want to join LFC, we would have withdrawn our offer a while ago.

we would never have bid in the first without getting encouragement from his camp in the first place

Some of your bretheren are finding this hard to understand <laugh>

Don’t get me wrong - landing caicedo is a long shot.

but right now - we ‘won’ the auction meaning we have the highest AGREED bid. If Chelsea don’t match that, or if we withdraw our bid, caicedo isn’t moving there

until our bid is withdrawn (which is very much possible) or Chelsea match or offer more, caicedo isn’t moving anywhere

They've got three weeks to sweat it out - I doubt are going to lose out on £100m and rebuilding their squad just to teach the scamp of a player and his rascally agent a lesson on our behalf. No, Chelsea have played us both, and because we got emotional when they started using Lavia as a decoy to Brighton - when lavia had made it 100% clear he only wanted to go to us, so we didn't need to panic.

because chelsea haven’t put a better offer in yet. We’re the only club who has an agreement with Brighton.
You offer is pointless, he will not move to you.
You could double the offer tomorrow and it still wouldn't make any difference, if a club place an offer that is acceptable to both the player and his club he will go there, even if it's half of what you offered.
You are out of it and any proposed dealings you have had so far are irrelevant.
