Dida played for Gremio just like Lucas Leiva... aka, Dida's boy Mbappe is 100% joining Liverpool!

Plus, Mbappe's pet badger supports Liverpool <badger>
He also had the honour of playing in one of Liverpool's greatest ever matches. He was so impressed he switched sides and let Smicer's shot in.

Let's see. He's 19. Making 49k now. 250k would be quintupling his salary. Salah is one of the worlds greatest players with a history of performances lasting many years now.

No teenager is currently making over 200k per week playing football. Not even at Real or City or United. Bellingham, as good as he is, hasn't been around long enough to have the year after year consistency that warrants a salary as high as Salah. As good as he is now, he hasn't earned the cred to be on over 250k a week... And he probably wouldn't even get that high with us, City, or Real... That was just a highball example.

Haaland is older and has had more years proven experience as is Mbappe. Bellingham is good, very good. But he's not going to get the same salary as Mbappe and Haaland no matter where he goes. Nor should he.

Within a few years he might be able to command a salary higher than Salah's is now. At which point we decide "sell him or pay him" as of right now. 250k is a worst case scenario.

this logic doesn't hold as 49k to 250k might be 5x but 49k to 500k is 10x and obviously far far batter.

As for the wages of people less than 20. Example: Mbappe went from monaco to PSG in 2017/18 (loan first on a wage then finalised) He was paid then 380k per week (pounds) and then later put on 1mil a week to keep him.

again that's at 18 and he played less then than Bellingham has.

There is zero point trying to talk sense when we talk about hot properties and football. ZERO.

While i might (and do) agree this is all senseless there is a cynical logic to it all. It is the purest of economics. The law of supply and demand.

this boy is the hottest property going (unless he brainfarts v france) theres a couple others emerging as chat items in this world cup but bellingham went in as the hottest property and is now looking gods gift apparently (i refuse to watch sorry but i assume he is)

the list of clubs who want himis very long and the lsit of clubs who can afford him is very short but they will be at each other's throats.

The one thing you aren't taking into account is where he himself wants to go. Virgil turned down ... how many to come to us. I won't be disappointed at all if he doesn't come to us. I'm just really enjoying the constant links of a top young talent to our great club.

But we are only hoping on this. hope is fine but hope is not a sure thing.

hoping someone tuned down 2x the money to come to us when all other things are equal is something nobody can be asked to do.

Example: delle alli was walked round melwood, driven up here by his own manager. The club didn't bother bid and spurs got him for 5mil and he had to go, there's no ah well i'll wait for you lot will i?

If city put down the cash and put down the wages in fornt of him and real do, and PSG do and who ever else and we put down the cash but half the wage how can we expect him to turn down one to move to us and then play second fiddle to city in the league?

Now if i say his team might have done the foreign thing and want to come to the prem then thats fine... I ll even buy that and ignore PSG, and real and that.

now i'm just down to man utd, City and cheslea.... and newcaslte who''d all love to be in this mix with us. So this is where the "hopes" comes in. we are hoping a guy turns away from something like 65million pounds over 5 years to play for us. When he could have tthat and more chance at trophies. its a blooming big ask.

Personally I don't enjoy being linked to top talents, I enjoy watching is make superstars out of players. I'd much rather lay hands on bellingham 2 years ago and be watching him come of age and rather like watching nunez growing up and becoming a star.

I'm unsure why you keep harking on about mbappe. He's an aboration, an exceptional talent that psg broke the bank for because he's French.

You carry on using an extreme to prove a point. There is no one on God's green earth that is going to pay a teenage midfielder half a million a week, I'd be amazed if he got anywhere close to £300k unless it's utd and their stupidity and ego get in the way of sense.

As good as Bellingham is, there's still better out there, fully mature players in their prime, the sort that Chelsea, Madrid, City tend to go for.

I'll say I'm not positive that he will come, apart from trashy link and tge usual round of rumours its difficult to know if we are actually interested but to suggest he's definitely not coming because another team are going to offer him more is ridiculous

Or more recently Darwin. I'm not saying Darwin has the same potential but everyone was after him this past summer.

Yeah, as good as Bellingham is, he's not in the same bracket as players like Mbappe, Neymar, Messi, Ronaldo. Not yet anyway. Not even the same bracket as Salah, Haaland, Mane, etc. Not yet.

He's famous, but not a worldwide household name yet. Every scout in the world knows him and everyone Britain sure. He's England's most promising young player. He's not Mbappe yet though.

Mbappe himself was more than about talent it was about a status symbol. The Mbappe purchase was about promoting Qatar on the international stage.

Unless England win the world cup and Bellingham puts three in against Brazil in the final he's not going to be the same sort of status symbol buy that Mbappe was. (Even if he was, is, or will be better). Mbappe was never about the football.

He's closer to (but more competitive) to the Darwin buy of the summer, or Virgil than he is Mbappe.

I'd put him on a similar level to Darwin.

Young talent that the hope is gets better, but may fall away.

A vanity purchase to throw money at is not our style, United threw money at sancho and look wheres it got them. He was hyped up even more than Bellingham.

To be fair to Sancho though, I think he was ruined by United and Klopp would have got more out of him. But indeed. No guarantee 19 year olds will get better or have consistency. Too early to tell if they're injury prone and susceptible to an injury which will take them down a few pegs. (Michael Owen was 19 when his career diminishing injuries first began... That was before his BDO, but began his downward slide)

Sancho wasn't much better at 20 than when he was 16/17* where as Bellingham already clearly is .
Mind you at that age he was really really good .

Jeez guys.

Mbappe was 18 he wasn't viewed as he is today. He was hottest property going.

You've bloody well called Bellingham a top talent only a fee posts ago yet I am not allowed prove the points made why he should take a low offer to join us cos "mbappe is clearly far better"

Is Bellingham gham actually any good at this point lol

Bellingham is probably the hottest transfer target this January. But he isn't the status symbol Mbappe is. The only other youngster in the last decade that had the same hype as Mbappe is probably Neymar.

Bellingham doesn't have that same "status symbol" vibe. He's an excellent young prospect.

Clearly that's not even what toy just said <laugh>

How many players did you say Bellingham was nowhere near as good as... as in just a few posts ago.

:)

There are shades of grey. Bellingham can be good without being best in the world. He doesn't have to be the worlds greatest or crap.

He is. He's very good. But one of the top 10 biggest names in world football? Not even close... Yet.

No.

Mbappe is a striker, French and the jewel in psg crown. He is a statement to the world from the owners.

Bellingham is a very good midfielder, can you see the difference?

Apart from mbappe can you nane another teenager that's on £500,000 a week, £300,000 a week?

Is he the hottest transfer though?

I think we think that because he's constantly linked with us, but he's constantly linked by rags.

Plenty of talk but not much action.

He's just another name from the world cup, hyped massively because he knocks about with trent and celebrated with Henderson.

Madrid will be talking about someone else, so will psg, barca will still be talking about messi.

I think when I googled earlier, there isn't even one on £200,000 a week. Teenagers don't typically make that much for all the reasons listed above.

* Not sure any of the lists I found were up-to-date so might be one, but won't be many.
