a question:

why would being alright with a 32 year old henderson have any influence on a 19 year olds choice. by the time he arrives (not happening :) ) henderson will be 33 and headed for the door.

If you said he's besties with trent now i might give it a small bit of credence.
Yeah but we're giving Hendo a 10-year contract extension just to wind up @Jimmy Squarefoot

as are your figures by the same token.
You have to remember that signing Bellingham would be a very positive move for the club and such unnecessary optimism doesn't sit well with the curmudgeonly folk.
Personally I have no idea whether or not it will happen, but like others have said I think there's a bit more of chance of us landing him than some of the other names bandied about.
We'll know soon enough.

His attitude is a refreshing change for a modern day footballer. I have no reason to doubt that he isn't money driven going on the fact that he has said so and he turned down bigger money and arguably a bigger move last time. If he doesn't come to us then that theory will be tested.

We had genuine interest in Tchouameni who was set on Real who paid €100m for him with €20m add ons and wages of around €180k a week. We were obviously prepared to do a similar deal but the player went to his first choice. I'm expecting similar figures around the Bellingham transfer wherever he goes. Why some think he will be demanding over £300k a week, I don't know. Real have set a precedent with Tchouameni in that a massive fee doesn't also equal a massive wage.

question:

why would his wage not be higher than Salahs?

Salah got reputedly 350k a week so how does that tot up with 250k a week you say? thats barely man utd goal keeper money BTW

Let's see. He's 19. Making 49k now. 250k would be quintupling his salary. Salah is one of the worlds greatest players with a history of performances lasting many years now.

No teenager is currently making over 200k per week playing football. Not even at Real or City or United. Bellingham, as good as he is, hasn't been around long enough to have the year after year consistency that warrants a salary as high as Salah. As good as he is now, he hasn't earned the cred to be on over 250k a week... And he probably wouldn't even get that high with us, City, or Real... That was just a highball example.

Haaland is older and has had more years proven experience as is Mbappe. Bellingham is good, very good. But he's not going to get the same salary as Mbappe and Haaland no matter where he goes. Nor should he.

Within a few years he might be able to command a salary higher than Salah's is now. At which point we decide "sell him or pay him" as of right now. 250k is a worst case scenario.

A well-reasoned argument. My only caveat is that football lost its reason a long time ago, so I wouldn't put it past anyone to make ridiculous demands. If he did come to us I feel it would have to be more an emotional than a financial decision.

As said above. I think with any player there are lots of conditions the influence where they go. Money is just one.

How much will I play?
Will I have a chance there to win stuff?
How close will I be to family and friends?
How far is it to the cheese?
What are my personal feelings about the club?
How will it impact my reputation?

He's probably guaranteed more game time with us.
He'll win stuff with us, although perhaps more if with City or Real.
We're closer to his family than Real.
We're one of the closest clubs to the Cheese.
He has positive opinions of the club and so does his family. He has friends in the club.
I think his reputation is safe with us, City, or Real... Although with us he's more likely as an individual to be a star.

I think there's a lot going for us. But there is for City and Real too. We have a realistic shot.

What about Chelsea? Mito said Bellingham's going to Chelsea. <whistle>

They certainly can't afford him if we can't. Make less revenue than us. Already spent like crazy. Don't have free loans from Roman anymore to bypass FFP and they don't have the FFP skirting fake sponsors that City have. They're not even an option.

It's us. Someone in Manchester, Real, or maybe Arsenal as the likely competitors for his signature.

Unless Bayern decide they could make use of him <whistle>

Maybe not but Bayern do tend to mop up any exceptional talent at other BL clubs.
Mostly German though to be fair.

They've definitely bought a few over the years, but with non-rivals bidding I think they'd prefer he go to England than have to face him several times a year.

They won't have much choice if the release clause is met and Bellingham wants to go there

PS .. Bellingham's parrot supports Bayern ;)

PPS... still only joking @johnsonsbaby <hug>

Dida played for Gremio just like Lucas Leiva... aka, Dida's boy Mbappe is 100% joining Liverpool!

Plus, Mbappe's pet badger supports Liverpool <badger>
