It will be interesting to see how Klopp sees the 9 role going forward because I would still argue that prime Bobby is still the best type of players for that role.
Jota is too limited IMO and he needs to work on his hold up play and link up to be considered a regular starter. And whilst Mane has taken to the F9 role pretty well, it's still levels below prime Bobby.
Finding a Bobby replacement is not easy because he is an unusual / unique player - the talk was that Havertz was the number 1 target to replace him before he signed for Chelsea. Joao Felix could be another option.
There are 'rumours' that we're in for Darwin Nunez but he is a more traditional number 9 so it would again move away from the 'Bobby' role and it would require a tweak in system IMO.
Thing is Bobby hasn’t been prime Bobby for a while now. Not saying he’s been poor but just not top notch and with Jota and mane you don’t get a more goal scoring option but obviously miss that link up. That’s where sh someone like Kane who can do that link up but also gets 15+ prem goals every year would be a great option. Only thing is maybe not his work rate.
Now finding someone that works hard, can link up as a 10 but also get 10 prem goals a season might be tricky.
This is where wonder if klopp is going in new direction, evolving the team. Having 3 out and out goal scorers up top. has also coincided with the RCM being pushed higher up and TAA being more central? Maybe just a coincidence but those changes have come about more when Bobby hasn’t been playing where he would normally drop deeper?
