No offence intended, but it's terribly naive to think everyone watches someone else getting a lot more than they and doesn't think they themselves are worth more. It's human nature, and it has nothing to do with how we assess their relative value.
No-one wants to be told "he's getting twice as much as you because he's so much better" - especially as it's a team game.
Salah is thriving in our set-up, but stick him in Norwich and see if he's still the "Best in the World". A handful of our players would be well within their rights thinking that they are equally as important to our current success.
It's a well-worn cliche, but no-one is bigger than the club - I've had a lifetime of seeing truly great players turn out for us - and there'll be plenty more to come after. Mo is the latest in a long line of illustrious talent - he's worthy of his place amongst them, but not to be elevated above them.
Do I want us to keep him? Yes, of course.
Do I want us to bend over backwards in order to? Certainly not.
If he moves on, we'll get over it.
