Kabak and Phillips? Especially when we're playing teams with big lads up front. Phillips can handle the rough stuff, tbf. Maybe not City though -they'll have him doing the splits.

Cant see it. I don’t see point now of playing two very inexperienced players at CB when fabs been excellent and we have Hendo Gini Milner Thiago Jones shaq Keita ox who can all play midfield.

Can’t see Fab playing midfield at all this season. Imagine will be him abs Kabak at CB when fit. I highly doubt we’d play Kabak and Davies at CB in a game together from the start not when we are well stocked in midfield.

Yeah it’d be brave to stick 2 new CB’s together who’ve got no PL experience.

exactly, and given at times he preferred to play Hendo and fab at CB ahead of Williams can’t see him playing both the inexperienced players (albeit it experienced in terms of game time)

It'd be mad. And Klopp has previous for weighing players up thoroughly before throwing them in. I'm expecting one newbie alongside an old hand - even if the latter has to be a midfielder.
I wouldn't even be surprised if we continued to see Hendo/Fabinho alongside Phillips for a few games yet - perhaps with sub appearances for the others.

According to klopp he got injured v napoli and has just not fully recovered because he’s had to step up with our injury problems. Just kept aggravating it to point where can’t now go on.

has had other issues previous years though which is a shame as on his day he’s up there and offers a lot with the ball at his feet coming forward.

His only weakness is his weakness, unfortunately.

I think CB is one of the hardest roles to slot in to. Often takes a CB from a different league a while to settle and I’m a massive believer in CB partnerships being crucial at the top level. It’ll be interesting to see how quickly they get blooded and how they adapt. They’ve got a few months to impress or they’ll be shunted back. No pressure like.

But I do disagree that he's toilet. You're just gonna have to accept that. Sorry bro but Edwards seldom buys toilet players mate.

He needs work on things, mainly his strength for me, bar that I don't see why he can't be a player in the prem, your peasant bias just wants to jump all over his non-start for us. Hopefully he does well for them and they buy him for 20m if we want to make a quick buck in this market why not.

You've seen the lad play as many games as anyone here but come all "he dogshit" <laugh> fuk outta ere no cares what you think of him<doh>

Not to mention who they're gonna be compared with.

Especially given how high we play. Can’t say I know how schalke operate but being bottom I’d imagine they’re under the cosh a lot and often easier to defend when csn sit on your 18 yard box and head balls away. Harder to do nothing for 80 minutes and then have to hold a high line to not let someone in 1v1 etc.

I can’t see us not signing kabak permanently. We’ve looked at him for few years would be silly not to sign unless he has an absolute shocker of 6 months

I expect good things when he comes back.

I see it as an opportunity for him to play a lot more and develop, I don't know why he's suddenly trash and Klopp's given up on him because we're loaning him out. He's not been amazing but he's played about ten minutes and there are more senior, and yes, better midfielders above him. For me he's not played enough to make a judgement on whether he's cut out for it or not, so having a look at him turning out for Southampton will provide that, albeit it's different playing for them than us. I guess the writing him off is coming from a basis that he's had some game time for us and now we're shipping him out because that's shown Klopp in those limited appearances that he's not of the required calibre, I can sort of see that but it seems a bit of a snap judgement to me. Fair enough, a player like Shaq, who's far from stellar, seems to be ahead of him, but he does offer some good stuff as we saw over the weekend and given the state of our squad we do need to use what works. Maybe it's just at this current time Minamino won't work so might as well let him play

It's incredible, our three first choice senior CBs all gone, the worst case scenario has become reality. Seems like we just can't sort out our defence at all, either we've not got good options and lots of liabilities, or they're horizontal, been going on for over a decade now surely
tbh with Matip its not a surprise. The guy is more fragile than a ming vase

And Gomez isn't much sturdier.

However it is the unlikely situation of all three of them at the same time, but that can be put down to a lack of a proper preseason, too many games being crammed into too short a time and the lack of recovery time (also a foul a short armed twat should be ashamed of, as too the ref who let it go unpunished).

Frankly Football has got this season wrong, the lack of understanding player welfare just to try and cram international tournaments in this summer has caused a big rise in injuries.

The positive side of me thinks that this is an opportunity for Minamino to get some more game time in the Premier League under a decent manager who's managed to bring the best out of some players. As I said to Libby, if the next few months go well for him then it could be a really good deal for all concerned.

The negative side of me says that he's been here a year now and, for whatever reason, despite several injuries to other players can't break through to play regularly, apparently being behind the likes of Shaqiri and Origi. He's 26, so not really up and coming anymore. Most damningly, Klopp isn't one for loaning out players he sees as long-term options, which suggests that as things stand he's not going to make it with us. If he doesn't do well, then that could be the end of him here. Or he'll at best be another Origi who never really plays but hangs around for ages. If he scores for us in the Champions League final I'll be happy enough though.:emoticon-0105-wink:
