Usually I'd be with you in this but I'm not this time. It's a chance of a life time for him he'll get to play for a top club and in the CL. If he does well, he's got a chance of making making it a longer term deal (you've got to believe in yourself), if not he can go to clubs like that after. If anything having "played for Liverpool Football Club" on your CV is going to help him.

Marseille turned down approach from [HASHTAG]#LFC[/HASHTAG] for Duje Ćaleta-Car. Source at Ligue 1 club says they have no time to find replacement & departure now unlikely. Liverpool have agreed a fee with [HASHTAG]#PNE[/HASHTAG] for Ben Davies (from @Matt_Law_DT @JPercyTelegraph earlier)

just seems a pointless signing to me, especially if we have to be more stringent with money. I’m all for signing someone but we already have a mid 20s centre back of championship quality in our squad. What the point in buying another one because let’s be real these no chance were playing Davies and Phillips as a pair in the prem. it’s one or the other alongside Fabinho Matip or Henderson and Phillips has shown he can do a solid enough job.
 
He comes, sits on the bench, gets the occasional sub appearance and then leaves in July.

Nothing really changes in his plans really, except he doesn't play as many game between now and when he ends up at Celtic. But he get the experience of working with top quality coaches at a state of the art new facility for 6 months. He also gets the 'I played for Liverpool' badge, which he trade off for the rest of his career.

As for us, who knows when Gomez, VvD or Matip will be back. We get someone to sit on the bench and Henderson can go back to playing in midfield as Phillips has proved he's capable of playing along side Fab or Hendo.
He'll be on low wages and then be gone in 6 months. And hopefully we buy a proper CB in the summer.

Its disappointing that we can't get someone good, but prices will be too high and there are registration rules too.

On a side note, I expect Phillips to replace Gomez in the CL squad.

It all depends on how good he turns out to be.
I don't actually know anything about him but our scouting team have done a pretty good job lately so I'll give him a chance.
We really need to be getting Hendo and Fabinho back into the midfield, so more options at the back can't hurt.
 
I havnt commented on here for a while, the levels if ****ty whinging reached epidemic levels. With this signing its nice to see the ****y whinging turn into ****ty self entitlement.

I preferred this board when we where **** with only a glimmer of hope of the title, at least there wasn't a consistent bitch and moan.

Jesus mate hark at what you just said.

the lad had a bit of talk about celtic but Lenton is out so who knows what the score is. He's offered LIVERPOOL and you want him to go kick about with Bournemouth or hang round hoping for celtic.

There's not a player in the championship whod not kill for a shot at the champions league and Premier league for 6 months.

He can always get another club but 99% of pro footballers would never get this chance

I knew nothing about Ben Davies before yesterday. I know little of him now except that we are getting him relatively cheap with 6 months of his contract up....so from a business perspective, he’s already worth more than we payed.....he was highly rated by Preston and he plays on the Left side of the CB pairing. Will be interesting to see how he gets on. Good luck to the lad.

I feel like we went on football manager and filtered by defenders with 6 months left and he was the best that came up
