But who is saying that we can sign someone now before January? I can't see anyone who is demanding us to break the rules to sign someone before the window opens?
What is a waste of time and energy? Debating about the need for a CB, and which CB we need to bring in? Is that not the point of a forum?
From what I can see, it sounds like reasonable people accept that we need a CB, and want one as soon January window opens.
And I do agree with you in that we shouldn't settle for any CB. But I think we need to be aggressive to sign the CB's that we do want, and it should be done in January.

You know Liverpool have staff whose job is to scout and sign players? I’m not sure it’s really a waste of time for them to do their job is it? Or do you want the recruitment team to do nothing all year then try and sign the latest big name for 100m in a desperate attempt like united have done?
Then we have to use the u13's and MITO will tell us to give them a go and not to panic lol.
Let's buy loads of CBs, then when they're all fit again we can get quite close to our old wish of "a team of Carraghers"

the point is we can't pull the trigger if the right one is available til.january so we have to get on with it anyway and if the right one is not available to come in now its rather pointless to buy the wrong one then drop them as soon as gomez/matip/vvd are fit.
