I think people on here give him a hard time because he not the same styles of player as Mane or Firmino or Salah when covering in any of their positions, but to say he's a useless donkey is pure silly imho

We have the best squad we've ever had = 97pts fact.

We have fab from the start, ox back.

We also have some very very decent youngsters to come through this season potentially saving us millions and also giving us an "unknown quantity" in the games they may feature in (just like a new signing would)

Really negative on here I don't get it, but then I'm an optimistic person.

Don't really care about Pepe, £70m seems too much for a relative new 'star' who plays in France. But do think we need/needed to strengthen our options, even if that meant selling some of the 'squad' players for upgrades. Whats wrong with wanting to better Gini or Lovren or actually finding LB and RB's (Gomez can stick to CB then)
Origi has proved himself in the premiership, Nicola Pepe have to do the same.
Yeah, not really though. Scored a few important goals towards the end, but overall he's still abit of a donkey. Never consistent.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to improve of course not. Klopps putting his faith in the younger players making the grade. Unless as he's said there's someone who can really improve us ala van dyke/ Allison.
For me its what I've always wanted to see from klopp, building a side from relative unknowns and young bloods from the youth teams .
It's our time for that. Have faith

How much consistency can you expect when he doesn't play regularly? He's cover and comes on to score goals when he does. What more ya want?

Four of our five best players aren't back yet. If it was one or two there could be an argument for being worried with what we've seen in preseason. The whole attacking force and the goalie, who is integral to making the defence tick, still to return makes the worries unfounded imo.

Me too - when it comes to football, at least.
I don't understand all the negativity before we've even kicked a ball in anger. I'm looking forward to the real season starting - after the last one I'm really excited about it. If it all goes tits up then I'll deal with that when it happens, but there's no point in crying before you're hurt, imo.

True but the problem is they won't be ready, they've missed the whole preseason and if they don't get a decent break they'll burn out by Christmas.

I know that's what you get when you have international players and win trophies etc. but our preparation has been tragic this time round.

I'm sure we'll be ok but the margins are so fine it is definitely a worry.

Consistency to challenge the front 3 when they're off form. Also his high profile goals mask the rest of the time when he's a bit dodgy.

Look he's not bad for coming off the bench, not complaining about that. What I want is players who will push to be more than bench players.

Brewster elliot van berg hoover Wilson laroucho?
If even one of these comes good it saves us millions.

I'm all for saving money in transfers... As long as... Experimenting with these youngsters and blooding them doesn't cost us money in prizes.

If we save £50million on Harvey the butler by buying him young it won't make up for Van Burger screwing up and allowing a goal through in a Champions League semi.

That itself is a thing to worry about. Many of our more influential players are going to have zero games practice/warmup before the season.

Sure, it means we can't draw a lot of conclusions from the games so far, but it is a cause for worry.

It also means, as feared, if we have injuries up front... If two of our front three are injured at once, we're going to lose a lot of games. Our squad is still paper thin and the backup players don't look good enough.

We lucked out last year with very few sustained injuries to key players. We're pushing our luck to hope for the same again.

Everyone was okay following the WC last season amidst similar concerns

I’m still totally convinced that we will sign one or two players. The club are just not prepared to pay inflated prices this year and their stance is a tactic to achieve this. I will be shocked if I’m wrong.

But without allowing them (youth) that freedom no one will ever know will they.

If anyone knows when a young player is ready to step up its jurgen Klopp bru. I get what your saying but who's to say we buy Pepe for 80m and he does exactly what you say van berger might do. Nah mean?

I highly doubt most have watched our pre season games. The players looked knackered even before kick off.

Klopp allowed the cameras in during two training sessions and you get to see how the team is drilled using rondos and then team shape.

In the games it is clear to see effort is lacking as the have been ran hard by JK. You can see the ideas but some carelessness in possesion is what is hurting us. Expect to see a different Liverpool when the true footie starts.

PS Ki Jana Hoever will be the break out player IMO

I've only seen 2, hoover has been plying fullback right?

I'm hoping Brewster gets his chance and takes it. He has the ability just needs a little luck.

Plus I have a bet with Piskie and Tel he'll score more goals than some gooner kid and some manc **** dud

I think you've conflated two thoughts into one; preseason performance is/isn't a cause for concern and players not yet back may/may not be able to cope with oncoming season.

The players not yet back will be well rested and as professional athletes will be working on their fitness for the start of the season. Mentally they may be in an even better place than those who are taking part in preseason.
