Our squad was stretched last season - nearly to breaking point.....and we were lucky with injuries. Not strengthening is a huge mistake....no matter how you dress it up.
But surely we expect our squad to be stretched during a 50 or 60 game season, that is what a squad is for. I'm not sure we were 'lucky with injuries' last season, we had one fit CB at one point and our front three all spent time out. Keita didn't really get a run till late on in the season and Hendo always spends some time injured. Klopp knows what he is doing, we are European champions after all
I can recall us resting players for the FA Cup and peeps on here going nuts. Reality is our first team is top quality, our B team is bang average. It’s the fundamental difference between us and City.
Indeed, and I worry our first xi have run out of steam. The summer hasn't been long enough/restful enough. Hopefully I'm wrong, we'll find out soon, but I think we're facing a hangover season.
We will see. I fear the worst and am really surprised that we haven’t moved on a few players and got a couple in in that makes us stronger as a squad....especially in key areas like LB/RB where we look very light....but who can argue with JK? The blokes worked miracles; for all we know, come the end of the season, we’ll be talking about Liverpool’s new world class kids and the class of 19/20. Unfortunately we’ll only find out if we’re wrong when it’s too late to do anything about it!
Teams are going to know how to play us now, we need plans A,B,C. We cannot do this without going to the market to buy.
Carlo Ancelotti believes Liverpool cannot be judged on their pre-season after his Napoli side inflicted another setback on the Reds. https://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/spo...lo-ancelotti-gives-honest-assessment-16660554
It is, but that difference isn't because we haven't the same ambition... It's because we haven't got a spare 300m (and the additional wages) to have a world elite second 11 too. We have what we have and invested heavily last summer - as Klopp has said, we can't do that every window.
So the last 2 games klopp has played a front 3 of Gini, Origi and AOC... That's our team for Norwich then. Shoddy as **** tbh.
Possibly. Personally I'm hoping it's part of klopps plan to bring on these youngsters this season. It's long term and goes with his M.O.. Not buying into this doom and gloom just yet. Its ridiculous tbh
Brewster elliot van berg hoover Wilson laroucho? If even one of these comes good it saves us millions. I'm all for klopps stratagy. Let's not forget we had 97pts and won the CL with this squad. Spurs signed no one last year with a lesser squad and donw well. Klopps ****ing got this dw
Chamberlain's first season he initially got played out wide and it just didn't work. He was significantly better when moved central. Gini is a workhorse midfielder and shouldn't be out wide either. It just shows behind the front 3 we have 0 cover. Even though we clearly won't be signing him, we desperately need someone like a Werner.
