Ryan Babel has admitted that walking out on Liverpool was a big mistake as he prepares for relegation from the Premier League with Fulham, speaking to Voetbal International.

Liverpool snapped up the then-Dutch U21 international from Ajax in the summer of 2007, paying a fee of £11.5 million for a player who had exploded onto the scene in the Eredivisie to earn comparisons with France great Thierry Henry, as reported by The Mail.

But, bar the odd flash of brilliance and a dramatic late winner against Manchester United, Babel never really lived up to expectations at Anfield. He scored just 22 goals in 146 games and jumped at the chance to join Hoffenheim in January 2011.

Speculation surrounding a potential swap deal involving Juventus’ Paulo Dybala and Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah has re-emerged and looks to actually be gaining a bit of pace.

Last month, the front page of Italian newspaper Tuttosport revealed that the Serie A champions had offered Liverpool £44million plus Dybala for the ‘Egyptian King’ – an offer which was politely declined.

Now, cited by the Daily Mail, Tuttomercatoweb report that Juventus are still eyeing a deal for Salah, with director of football Fabio Paratici said to be ‘extremely keen’ to add the 26-year-old to the club’s already-impressive attacking repertoire.

Despite Juve’s reported interest, Salah only signed a new bumper five-year contract at Anfield last July and the Italian club’s primary target is Federico Chiesa of Fiorentina.

Liverpool are prepared to sell one of last summer’s major signings Naby Keita, after less than 12 months at the club for the midfielder – as reported in an exclusive claim by Team Talk.

The 24-year-old completed his move to Anfield almost a year ago after being touted by many as one of the best midfielders in the game following a couple of superb seasons in the German top flight.

Keita was looking like a decent acquisition during the early months of the season as the Reds kicked off their serious challenge to win the Premier League title.

But after a decline in his form over the past few months, Jurgen Klopp has changed his mind about his plans for the former Bundesliga star ahead of the summer transfer window.

Therefore, Liverpool are claimed to be willing to let go of Keita for a fee even lower than the £50milion which the club paid for him almost a year ago.

6.30 UPDATE: Liverpool will not sell Sadio Mane
Liverpool are confident of keeping Sadio Mane - despite Real Madrid reportedly planning a transfer for the Senegal international.

Liverpool star Mane has emerged as a big Real Madrid transfer target for the summer, with Zinedine Zidane hoping to push through a deal for the Senegal international.

Liverpool were able to stop Real Madrid from signing Mane nearly a year ago but, now, a summer pursuit appears to be in the offing.

Los Blancos require firepower to help challenge Barcelona for honours next season, with the La Liga giants yet to replace Cristiano Ronaldo.

And Mane, alongside PSG forward Neymar and Chelsea star Eden Hazard, is on their transfer wishlist.
