Totally agree. Just saying that if we were to try and resign him, Barca would try to get that clause removed
Theres so many bits of ****e floating around about coutinho its hilarious. They tried so ****ing hard to rob him that not so soon they are actively pushing him out door and agent is working too now. the latest falsehood is coutinho family never settled on merseyside. which is obviously why he signed 5 year long deals eh? Its PSG apparently... only problem is they are ****ed for FFP and under investigation. or utd.. who are shopping in the poor bucket apparently. but never madrid oh no...
Because he is exactly what we're missing. Someone who can score a goal when the other team is playing with every man defending. We don't miss Coutinho in open, or end to end games, but we do miss him against defensive teams that just sit back for 90 mins. Teams couldn't get away with doing that when we had Coutinho. Footballers have limited years to fit their careers in. I don't blame him for wanting to do what he thought was best for himself in his peak years. It's not like he went to one of our direct rivals, or kissed the badge saying he wants to return to Liverpool and then went to Newcastle.
you'd swear it was a disaster for coutinho By my count: LA liga titles 2 (most likley) Copa del rey 2 (probably) Champions league (sorry phil you're ****ed on this one this year ) Not a bad little return for a disastrous career move.. oh and 500k per week before tax....
... And that's the reason we won't be re-signing him. All the "he left us" Klopp won't care about... But there's no way we would pay him what Barcelona pays him. Excellent player though, and exactly the player we need, but we wouldn't ever match his pay demands.
He was told. He could have been a legend but not any more. he is now just the guy barca signed to pretend neymar didn't screw them. The mistake.
Coutinho is a good player, and I'm not going to say we don't need him just out of spite because of the way he left - but I do think you're overstating his impact in this area. Teams certainly did sit back when we had him and we had just as much difficulty unlocking them then. The fact that we have done better than ever against the "weaker" teams this season might even suggest that we have found a better solution to the problem.
We won’t be signing Cout’s back because if nothing else, we can’t afford his wages. Only a handful of clubs could afford him on his current salary. 500k/week!!! Ffs That’s said, he would be perfect in our midfield. He used to be patchy in our team but his last 12 months, he became more consistent. We don’t have anyone with his vision or finishing ability from midfield, shooting from 25-30 yards or free kicks and we’ll be lucky to find anyone with his abilities tbh. Shame.
It’s more his ability from outside the box. Teams can sit back all they want but if someone can ping one in from 25 yards then not much they can do. Yeah his record was hit and miss but he was capable unlike any of our current line up
Be interesting what the goals for and against is. Doing better against the weaker teams is very much down to vvd and alisson though making you boys rock solid. Obviously salah is also an adequate creative replacement for couts
he had many many goals and assists last year. Look at our midfield numbers now. We have not scored many fewer than last year but are now more reliant on the front 3.
You sure? I thought we’d scored more goals this season than last. I know Salam’s numbers are down a bit but mane has upped his scoring record this season.
You can’t jus look at this though. Fewer goals conceded and more points scores are probably more important. Although you’re point is valid, we would score more with any kind of creativity in the middle - thing is, would detract from the other elements - the more creative the player, the less likely that he presses and defends as Klopp demands.....am pretty sure that’s why Shaq wasn’t getting minutes.
All true, but my point was specifically in response to mito saying that we're more reliant on the front 3 atm.
Yes. As there are still at least 9 games to go the final figures may vary, but the rest of the team (without MFS) has bagged proportionally more this season than they did last - even though we had Coutinho in for part of last season. Edit: I should say 7 games to g0, as I was only looking at PL figures.
Well last year we scored 84 in the league, this year so far we’ve scored 70. That’s 2.21 per game last year and 2.25 this year so about the same. Last year salah got 32, firm 15 and mane 10, 57 in total. This Salah, 17, mane 17, firm 11. 45 in 31. 1.5 per game last year and 1.45 per game this year i wouldn’t exactly call that ‘far fewer’ oh and as a % last year they got 67% of our goals, this year they’ve got 64% of our goals
