Yes he was ****e in final. But he helped get us there to start with.

Worst keeper ffs have a day off.

Chris Kirkland had a mate on a similar level to Aquilani; constant stream of injuries.

Scott Carson never materialised either.

Both were signed as youngsters but Chris was for big money at the time.

tbf Kirkland was in a transfer cock up when we had 2 targets and ended up with both by accident.
probably-my memory is seriously hit & miss but cba to check .
 
Karius was a one-off

If you want a GK who's consistently crap in finals look at Pepe Reina

Dudek (means 20 in Esperanto BTW) was either brilliant or terrible.

He was like two players in one. I swear we signed two keepers. Jerzy Dudek, and his evil twin. You never knew which of the Dudek twins would be in goal before a game. One was fantastic, one was absolutely terrible. Sometimes they swapped off at halftime.

Woukdnt day any keeper has flopped. We’ve just signed a lot of average one. Of the ones to actually be number 1s recently looking at James, Westerveld, Dudek, Reina, Mig, Karius, Becker. Wouldn’t say any of those were worse than we assumed they were gonna be.

you can't put any keeper who helped get us to a cl final in there, yes he may have ****ed up in final, but some games he was the reason we got through to next round for his saves.

we have had a lot worst keepers than him.

in 10 years time all that will be remembered of him is how dodgy he was and how he ****ed the final imo

none of those are as bad as some of the goalie names we have listed though.

what did freidel,Carson and kirkland achieve?

I always thought we'd intentionally bought both. Seem to recall Westerveld leaving about then too.

I believe it was roughly £4m for Dudek and £7m for Kirkland. The latter was only a teenager I believe, the former was later twenties. First choice and backup scenario imo
