Say same for any player in any league though.

Or maybe you’re manager isn’t great with attacking flair players.

Think Carra said it earlier, if you’re a forward you sign for guardiola. I’d toure a defender you sign for mourinho as they will both improve those type of players dramatically.

2 we have are very good in Can and Firmino.

I agree.

TBH mourinho has not wanted mkhitaryan and forced him into this situation

he did the same to mata, salah and a few others at cheslea and they've all starred elsewhere.

Quality is quality... its a sin to waste it.

Dont want to start a trend. Don't blame the club at all, release clauses put the player in some control. However as a player you see us not selling Coutinho in the summer because we dont have to and it probably makes you want a release clause just in case.

I understand it from both sides, just difficult at the moment because if you put a 50m release clause in for example, that might be peanuts in 18 months the way things are going

Is Can really that good?

I'd go with decent.

He’s good but needs to be more consistent. The performance against City should be the norm but it isn’t.

He does have potential to become a quality midfielder which is why we need to keep him.

We must remember that he’s only turned 24 and had to play in a number of positions due to his versatility. Finally, he’s getting a run at number 6 and he’s put in some very good performances.

He should focus purely on screening and defending, and I think once we have the likes of Keita and another, he doesn’t need to worry about creating.

If he were to leave, it’s not a massive loss but still a loss and even worse if he goes on a free.

I agree with the club about not putting a release clause because it sets a dangerous precedent for potential new signings and existing renewals. However, given how players can easily force moves with and without release clause, it could become the norm and we may have to.

He's a good player we should do all we can to keep him imo, not saying he's brilliant but well worth keeping hold of.

when he really tries, and you could tell sunday he was really trying to put himself in the shop window, then he's a very good player.

When he's half arsed about getting back or only interested in running with the ball and not passing it til he's in a corner then he's a very average player

Its up to him he could be a brillinat player but he just switches off and goes into the selfish mode.

I agree but still think he's worth keeping other than letting him go on a free.

Yeah I would like him to stay because he's shown a good standard and there is risk and money associated with replacing him.

He does need to improve consistency though which I guess may come with experience.

you've said it there.

He's inconsistent but usual on a real big game day he plays the way he should.

frustrating.

It goes back to my point on another thread that in the big games, we are likely to have less possession which suits the workhorse midfield much better.

But in games against lesser teams where we have the majority of possession, this is where we need more quality on the ball.

£50m more than nothing this summer though? I see both sides to be honest, do it for one and then others will want similar however we did it with Suarez so it’s not like we’ve never used release clauses.
