So we aren’t interested in Mahrez and we don’t seem to be all that interested in Lemar either. Think a lot of us will be disappointed in not getting a replacement in

Nearly every club in football would roll over for 142mil.

He's currently the 2nd highest transfer ever so it's hard to just keep the player.

Barca. PSG. Real Madrid. Man City are probably the only clubs that could not roll over. The fact is we're not in that group financially.

We'll be fine without him. Bizarrely we get more success when Coutinho doesn't play for us anyway. Strange one but that's what the stats say.

That's why stats need to be taken with a pinch of salt and can be used to tell you anything you want. Governments constantly use them to tell you how a good job they are doing.

Is it possible that Coutinho gets to play only when playing the more difficult matches? And not included when the matches are dead easy and we are expected to win handsomely? I haven't analysed the stats in great depth but that's why bare stats don't tell you everything. May be things like goals scored and assists may be more informative.

The reality stats or no stats is that he is class and can turn a match round by a great shot or a free kick. Barcelona wouldn't have paid £142m unless he could make a difference.

Yes, I saw the stats and agree that the price is impressive but don't see why it had to be now. If he stayed and Liverpool go top 4, got to the semi finals of the CL and Couts had a good World Cup (all reasonable calls) would he be worth any less? I fear we are becoming another Arsenal happy to chug along but with no real ambition.

Also - we now have zero creativity from midfield. I suspect we will find it more difficult to break down teams who defend deep.

he wanted to be gone. thats.why. klopp said in his statement club were trying to convince him to stay so it took him 6 months to convince the club he did want to go..

it sort of explains why can is going on a free.... some deluded people at Anfield who believe they are the ultimate and nobody would be attracted by a European giant over lfc

well its not like we could do it with Ford so not sure it makes that much difference.

put it this way.

lfc are still favourites for 4th right now... a couple losses and it could be spurs favorites.

we have salah, they have kane.
we have vvd, they have alderweireld

they have Eriksen and alli.

we have...? mane and maybe firmino if he isn't done.

we've lost can in his head.
we've now lost coutinho
we have Henderson out.

<laugh> he's a nominee for the December 2017 player of the month ... the reality is that he's had one poor season, the last one ... and most of our team did tbf ...
Didn't say he wasn't playing well at the moment and left a question mark to indicate that I was wondering if I'm right other than making a statement. But of course you are all over anything said by a Liverpool fan at the moment, you have a real problem.
Just to be clear, I think he is a very good player but we don't need a right sided player right now which is why I don't want him.

What if we are going to buy but, because we want the right player rather than anyone to fill a void, they won't be joining until the summer?
We need to replace him now IMO but I agree it has to be the right player. So bid for the right players and if it doesn't happen then fine reassess in the summer but try now.

Even Klopp's comments make little sense and don't explain why the sale was done now. I wonder what VVD is
thinking now after observing this latest example of pathetic management. Thought he was joining a big club.
Think Klopps comments while praising Coutinho condemn him albeit politely. Saying he was insistent no matter who talked to him is saying he was downing tools. There is no other explanation for accepting the deal at this time.

So yes Klopp was protecting his team from a little **** who would gave went from one of our most important players to a huffy constant distraction and talking point.

Hope this year's title is the only one the little rat sees at Barca. Unlikely I know but I can dream.
