When is an ideal time to buy? Seriously, £75m for VvD, £146m for Couthino.....it's nuts. There is absolutely no difference financially. The only difference is availability....but money always talks in the end.

We can't piss about here or 4th 5th and 6th is our best. We've watched mingolet, Henderson, lovren, Moreno **** us up time and again (half a team that btw) fix it or admit you are making do.

Qualifying for the champions league is important, but a team that merely participates in the CL is just a stepping stone for the potentially great players to make a name for themselves before moving on.
The club needs to shoulder a lot of blame on this for taking way too long to start taking a better approach to fixing obvious problems with the squad. The problems with our defence have been apparent since Carra's last season. The problem at left back had been apparent for an age, the problem at GK has been apparent since Reina's final season.
Had these problems been approached more sensibly and efficiently, we might have won a title, or at least a league cup, in that time.
Yes. If serious about trophies buying vvd then selling a star like coutinho won't cut it.

Seems quite obvious that this is not nearly as big as losing Suarez was at time and that hardly killed Liverpool.
It’s a massive profit on a player who’s done superb and has only moved on to one of the worlds biggest clubs.
It’s not as if Firmino, Salah and Mane are **** either is it? I’d say £145 million is his absolute ceiling price, probably above it.
If some of it is spent on Mahrez, so Liverpool end up with the balance of a quality left sided player as well as van Dijk for less than they brought in for Coutinho, then as an outsider looking in I’m thinking ‘**** me they’ve done well that window’.

Even Klopp's comments make little sense and don't explain why the sale was done now. I wonder what VVD is
thinking now after observing this latest example of pathetic management. Thought he was joining a big club.
Buying in January isn't necessarily a bad thing - selling probably is.
