Hes versatile frpm what I gather. Can play wide or in middle. Guess he's competition for Salah / Mane and Cout/Lallana in he middle. At the moment we have 3 non creative players in midfield so he'd a lot in nicely replacing one of them.

Its a squad game anyway. Look at city line up and bench. When they have their strongest line up they still have Aguero, b.silva, Sterling, Toure, gundogan, Danilo on their bench. Game changes who can come on and make a difference or seemlessly slot in to rotate the squad.

Now we dont have the money to be to be able to have 4/5 world class players on bench, but it's been a good number of years since we've had a bench that you look and say, yup 3/4 of them are genuine first team players.

Looking to next year, we'll assume Cout is sold we could have the following.

Mig
TAA Matip VVD Robertson
Keita Can Lemar
Salah Firm Mane

bench: Karius, Lovren, Clyne, Hendo, Lallana, Gini, Sturridge.

That doesnt even include gomez, Klavan, Moreno, Milner, woodburn, Origi. That's a nice squad list

City prob have just a few too many at this point really.

If you were making a LFC 18, a really strong 18 first.

GK: Mingolet, karius... it is what it is.
RB: huge options now. Clyne, TAA, gomez.
LB: moreno and robertson, again is what it is.
CB: Matip, Lovern, Klavan (right now gomez marked at rb)
no 6: Henderson... no other real option?
no 8: coutinho, lallana, can, wijnaldum. grujic lemar here?
no 9. firmino, sturridge, solanke
Wide forwards: mane and salah

so yeah theres "enough" to make an 18 there.. i've put 22 names down. I feel midfield is unbalanced, and defence is still what it is.

If you put lemar in there. I'd presume he will play no 8 and first game back mr coutinho will be on bench to come in.

I think that the need for you to ask why we Saints are pissed off with LFC shows socipathic levels of a lack of empathy. Historically, I haven't had a problem with your club and even supported you during those European triumphs in the 70s and 80s. I was less happy when you knocked us out of two cup S/Fs though!. I always respected your club for the way it conducted itself and coached good players into great ones and produced your own. You can take how you feel about Barca and magnify it 5 times as you have been in for one of our top players in every transfer window in the past few years, surely, you can understand how we feel?, we are not businessmen, we are irrational fans, we don't care about money, we care about the team.

I do understand how you feel and TBH I would have felt exactly the same if we had been under such pressure every transfer window. I just don't understand why we are always after your players. Your scouts and/or coaches must be well above average to bring in/coach such highly rated players on such a regular basis.

Oh no some buys your players. Its football that's what happens.

As feeling towards Barca, think you're projecting something that isn't there. Whilst I think Barca have acted in an underhanded way with Couts I hold no animosity towards them. They're an excellent club (seemingly being badly run atm). And if Couts, although I may not want him to leave, does leave for Barca, I hope we get a great deal and then all the best to him.
Its football, players move on and unless your Real or Barca or Bayern then its likely there is always someone bigger than you.

What a merry go round. This transfer window is like a game of musical chairs with Arsenal, City United and Chelsea swapping players. The latest merry go round involve Sanchez, and Johny Evans. Every club now is taking the essential step of getting a good replacement before agreeing to let their coveted player go elsewhere. No club in the premiership is under financial pressure and they do not have to sell even for vast amounst of money if that is going to weaken their team.

A place in the premiership is now worth hundreds of millions. Why take the risk?

If there is blame, blame your Board for selling, not Liverpool for buying.

This is exactly what i'm talking about, you would hate us if the shoe was on the other foot.
Nope... don't hate Barca for trying as long as it's within the rules. Don't hate player for asking to leave as long as he does it with time for us to get replacements in.

Would be annoyed with our management/owners if they caved everytime a club came calling while publicly stating they had ambition to win things.

Hence why some are suspicious of FSG after Suarez and thought same would happen with Coutinho...so far it has not.

If we got no one in and Coutinho was let go last minute ...i guarantee you we would not be directing our ire at Barcelona....

Look I understand the Saints fans being upset but honestly, give it a rest.

Sick of seeing the transfer thread dominated by us feeling obliged to explain fine lines between the Coutinho/VVD situations, debate, slate both players 'equally' and then accept that both are not loyal.

Seriously can we skip that now?
