What has Van Dijk done wrong?

He informed the club about his wishes, was left behind because he was honest about wanting a move. In return Southampton have constantly briefed the press against him and illegally fined him.

He made 3 errors

1. Signed new contract with no intent to honour it but signed a 6 year deal.

2. Told the world he agreed to join us, proving he was in contact with other clubs for southampton.

3. Put in request late after preseason begun and then had a public rant

If he had to be his business properly he would be already on treble the wages.

He isda highly paid professional - no, make that an obscenely wealthy young man - who has made himself unavailable to his employers because he has not been able to get his own way. He signed a 6 year contract extension a year ago, and he is treating that contract with the same contempt with which he is treating the fans of the club he is employed to play for.

If you can't see anything wrong in that, you are as morally bankrupt as Van Dijk himself, and his ****bag agent.

If and I mean if we get him - I would fully expect to see the same happen to us if Barca/Real/PSG/Bayern come calling
Would add Utd but we don't seem to trade but they are defo the level above us and karma is a bitch - that said as is well documented on these pages it happens to us as well :(

I do feel for Southampton but could be worse when you see what is happening at Monaco or what happened to us with H&G

No, his manager (who has been there 5 minutes because Southampton think it's fine for them to disregard contracts) asked if he was 100% dedicated, he said in private he wanted a move, so he was left behind.

He has been ordered to train alone by the club and so has done so every day.

Exactly what Coutinho did. Didn't he sign a 6 year contract earlier this year? Then decided he didn't want to play for us afew months later when Barca came calling?.

I am agreeably surprised by our burst of buying late in the window. With our buying spree it is increasingly looking like we are using the money we would get for selling him to Barca for £130m...Hope I am wrong but it seems we are spending his sale money ...:bandit:

Triggering the buy out clause for Keita was a no brainer. We bid higher than the clause and it was turned down. The logical thing to do then was to buy him now for next year by submitting a bid before any one else could get in.

Lemar is also a high quality player who would cost a fair bit but would enhance the first team And VVD seems to be coming to a positive conclusion.

It is looking to be a great window after all. If we do pull off these deals, we would have shown that we can compete as a top 4 club to get the best players. I am feeling very positive about a title run. Am I allowed to say that ? <whistle>

Contracts exist to protect the value to the club too.

Southampton leaked to the press.

He informed Southampton the first day of preseason he wanted to move. Their [HASHTAG]#desperate[/HASHTAG] attempts to provoke a bidding war rather than accept a world record fee provoked the mess. He spoke out after he was illegally fined.

Yes agree with you to some extend, but Barcelona are sniffing. If we don't act fast we might not get him next season. We can only pray that Keita
do not have a long term or very serious injury.
