Jürgen Klopp, the Liverpool manager, is ready to make a move for Alexandre Lacazette, the Lyon forward, ahead of Premier League rivals Manchester United.
Lacazette had hoped to join Atlético Madrid, however a transfer ban on the Spanish club means the France international will have to look elsewhere if the 26-year-old wants to leave his hometown club.
After scoring 37 goals last season, the £50 million-rated Lacazette is, according to the Express, now top of Klopp's shopping list.
Despite saying he wants Lacazette to stay at the club, Lyon chairman Jean-Michel Aulas has admitted that the player's future is 'under scrutiny'.
“We will have to meet with Alex again," Aulas said. “We will have to see what will happen in the future, but today the decision to let Alexandre go is now under scrutiny.
“I would prefer that he stays. In the context of our competitiveness and our desire to build a truly great team for next season.
"Lyon has a lot of very good players and if Alexandre does not leave it will be another player in very similar conditions.

Can't see us getting Lacazette. I think he'll hold out until January when Atletico's transfer ban is lifted.

We can still dream ...

VvD is off to City. If we'd got him, it'd have been a great signing. £40, £50, £60m....what's the difference. It's what happens on the pitch that matters. He would have made a huge difference. <wah>

He clearly isn't worth £50m, but when clubs throw round world record fees for players like Pogba, it just gives other clubs a reason to demand more.

I would feel the same with Coutinho, probably worth something like £50m, but why wouldn't we ask for more than Pogba went for, as Coutinho is far better.

Luiz and Stones going for £50m after [HASHTAG]#joke[/HASHTAG] seasons means an actual good CB starts at £60m
